Re: Does Jesuit win state.?
Ok Marcus lover...I have to agree that even though their record is outstanding, This is not the most talented team Jesuit has had over the last few years and they still haven't won state. On the other hand, neither is Marcus.

8:00 PM at Hebron HS stadium. Jesuit pummelled Coppell early in the season but the Cowboys have come on strong at the end of the year including at 4-1 win at Marcus and 4-0 against Keller Central last night. Should be a good game

Great game to attend tomorrow night. Take the kids and let them see how HS soccer can be played. It could be them one day in the very near future.

Hey kudos to Marcus of years past..I meant this is not the most talented team that Jesuit or Marcus has had. However both of your destinies are leading to each other...it will be a toss up either way as long as everyone stay healthy. I will be cheering Coppell and Marcus for sure!

Marcus has a road trip to Denton tonight vs Allen. Will be a good game. I haven't seen Jesuit play this year, so me and the boys will head over to Hebron tonight to watch the fireworks at 8 pm.

If someone would do Dcup check-in and watch my U10 girl's game - I'd rather be at Hebron....dilemmas.

Jesuit edged Coppell through double OTs to pks. Fast squads. Speed everywhere. Both GKs had game saving grabs. Two missles sent from the right side during regulation. One scored the equalizer for J. The other a spectacular finger snatch by Js K to seal the tie. Two different styles of play, executed evenly. Fortunate to see it live. So, my answer is, Yes, they should.

Props to Peter Brody (Blue Sky and Liverpool) whose son plays for Marcus. Mr. Brody accepted the terms of a bet with me on the Jesuit/Marcus game.
Loser wears the winning team's shirt to upcoming GLASA Board Meeting.

Something tells me that neither Jesuit or Marcus wins state this year. I could see Southlake having a really good shot if they are healthy.

Re: Does Jesuit win state.?
Great match Jesuit vs Marcus tonight. Both teams played very physical with bookings all game. I liked the way each team switched formations during play. Great strategies from both coaches. Very bold moves only made possible with knowledgeable players. Marcus scored first when thier lighning bolt forward got behind the deffense. Jesuit equalized a bit later and went ahead via ball movement and a finish. Marcus had some great opportunities to even the game late in the second half. Still not sure why the ball that touched the net was not counted. I was behind the goal and was a bit distracted by my little one doing flips on the pole vault mat. The final minute of the game defined the evening when double bookings were given to the Jesuit Keeper and a Marcus Winger. I went to a fight and a soccer match broke out. BTW- Great crowds to watch a soccer game. The most I've seen in a while. Drums, chanting, noise makers and lots of emotion on the field and in the stands!

Yes, Marcus had two goals called back by the referees. Sadly, Marcus didn't pay well enough to take the refs out of the game.

Re: Does Jesuit win state.?
A very WINDY and physical match. The cards that were given were earned, but there could have been more earlier in the match.
I was disappointed in how Jesuit #14 behaved. He talks too much trash for a guy wearing a white string headband. He was very lucky that his foul on Marcus #20 in the 1st half wasn't called, it would have been a penalty kick and changed the tenor of the match.
Marcus #16 is unbelievably fast, but goes down too easily (in some cases) and fouls as good as he gets. His goal 12 seconds into the 2nd half was impressive and shocked the Jesuit defense. Marcus #5 and #7 somehow managed to escape without yellow cards for dissent. The referee allowed the players to talk to him like a players do in a college match.
From my seat on the opposite 40-yard line, I did not see why the Marcus goal was disallowed. As for the winning goal, that was on my end and may have been a missed call.
That match would have been much better on a larger field and without hurricane-force winds.
Kudos to both sides for bringing out the fans - loud and proud.

Re: Does Jesuit win state.?
You failed to mention that Jesuit had a goal called backed as well that was questionable. What goes around comes around. In the 2008 (Jesuit/Marcus) Regional Final with more on the line, the only goal of the game came on a Marcus PK awarded for a bogus hand ball when the Jesuit player had his back turned to the play and the ball hit his arm. Sometimes you catch the breaks and sometimes you don't. Paybacks are hell.

In the first half, Jesuit forward went through Marcus #4 from behind, jumped over him and scored = foul was called on Jesuit and it was a good call.
In the second half, Marcus #16 did the exact same thing on nearly the same spot on the field = foul was called on Marcus and it was a good call.

Carroll team will beat Jesuit team since they have very good team and a "special" player that is very good boy and works with my boy as a big brother.
I predict 2-0.
