don't think it matter does it? Recruiting is not illegal is it? Jesuit may not do it but I do know a family whos daughter was recruited from her club team for soccer and offered a scholorship to a very expensive girls private school.

I never said it was illegal, or even wrong. I simply said Jesuit does not recruit athletes, because they don't.

Coach, my point was not that the Jesuit players are saints, but that the Jesuit haters are anything but....Cursing and slandering a bunch of players is a reflection of the folks spewing the hate. The fact that the Jesuit players and fans don't punch them in the nose is also a credit to them.
And I still don't see your name anywhere. My name is David Finn and I'll give you very good directions to my office if you care to visit.
And if you care to respond you win and will get the last word. I'm getting back to rooting for the Jesuit coach, team, parents, and school.

Don't give them too much credit...I was a neutral spectator at the Jesuit v El Paso Bel Air game last weekend and heard more than enough racial slurs coming from the mouths of the Jesuit parents.

I don't know exactly how that works if they are a public school, but I knew a couple of friends who played soccer there and lived out of district. The school wasn't paying their tuition or anything but I could definitely see how that would be an advantage for a private school. If a kid is in a bad district and has the means to attend a private school with a good program, that team would naturally benefit from a situation like that.

Actually, several districts allow open enrollment. Jesuit's regional final opponent is a good example. Socorro ISD allows students to transfer schools based on certain curriculum decisions not based on attendance boundaries. Wichita Falls ISD does this. Brownsville allows this for Hidalgo College Prep. What do these have in common? Final four appearances in the last few years. Coincidentally, many of the best soccer players happen to choose to go to the school that is winning at the time.
Hidalgo was brought in front of the UIL last fall for recruiting violations. Bel Air has actually been in front of the UIL, and the complaining coach showed how the player had misspelled "Bel Air" on the application, questioning what the students true motivation for attending that school would be.
Open enrollment at various high schools across the state is very similar to what the Jesuits have.
By the way, I'm predicting an All-Catholic final.

So you're saying you have to be Catholic to go to Jesuit?

I think you know what he meant.

All Catholic schools, as in, both Jesuit schools in the tourney are Catholic schools, which accept non-catholics students.

I'm fairly certain you wouldn't have a broad enough brush to paint high school fans (parents and students) as being quiet and well-behaved. I do not have a student in high school, attend several games, and am kind of shocked at the fan's behavior when compared to classic league games.
I did sit with Jesuit in the Plano/Jesuit game - it was pretty humorous to hear the complaints about calls, but I didn't hear anything I haven't from any other fans from other schools (typical calls for cards and 'call them both ways'...).

The obvious explanation for the results in both football and soccer is demographic. Soccer is most successful in the affluent communities where families can afford to participate in club soccer competition. Jesuit, though not geographically defined, comports with this demographic. Conversely, football venues are provided exclusively by the school system and, hence, football is more egalitarian and diversified amongst the masses. On close inspection and analysis you will find that the assertions of nefarious behavior made against the Jesuits is naught but a well orchestrated campaign of disinformation coordinated by the illuminati, whose historic hatred of the true church is well documented.

    Dallas Jesuit v. Stake Jesuit

    Post  irish86 on Fri Apr 09, 2010 12:50 pm

just like in the old TCIL days! These two teams probably met 20 times in the TCIL finals over the past 30 years in the pre-UIL days.
    Go Jesuit(s)!

She is saving herself for a mission trip down to Georgetown. She will be participating in the 5A boys championship trophy presentation tomorrow.

Nice. Please remind the Sisters of Perpetual Martyrdom that charity begins at home, as in Dallas. If the Dallas Jesuit team does not win the championship I will send you and yours to the restaurant of your choice on the house. I'm sure you'd reciprocate, right? If not, you can still call me on my offer. I won't let you down.

    Rex Rayfield

    Post  irish86 on Fri Apr 09, 2010 2:29 pm

And lest I forget to make a specific prediction, Dallas Jesuit's Rex Rayfield will score the winning goal. He got two yesterday, and his dad was a machine when he played for Charlie many moons ago...That kid, and the team, are on a mission, and I think Rex Sr. was on the Dallas Jesuit team that beat Strake 3 or 4 years in a row

To think that we have had centuries of dialectic on divine dispensation when all we had to do was resolve the issue with a soccer game. Truly, we are living in a marvelous time. Your views: does the resurgence of the church mark the beginning of the end of times or the beginning of a new historical epoch.

Interesting move by Jesuit Strake to put a defender in the goal for the shootout.
I will say Jesuit Dallas earned the championship. They played alot of really good teams in Region I and came out on top.

Actually he is a keeper playing on the field. He got a soccer scholarship as a keeper to Notre Dame.

that defender actually is the starting keeper for the Dynamo Development Academy team. he, obviously, plays in the field for Strake and is a decent defender. so the switch is not a confusing as it seems.
