SD1, how many of the middle school kids also play Select, in your estimation?

Only a few at Keller Middle...and my son is out with an injury. He got the cast off his foot yesterday for aggravated ligaments in his foot and hopes to play next week.

How many Dallas area school districts have middle school soccer?
Here are some I'm interested in:

    Southlake (Carroll)
    Colleyville-Grapevine
    HEB (Hurst, Euless, Bedford)
    Irving
    Coppell
    Lewisville

Also, do the private schools participate in these leagues? After seeing Jesuit v. Jesuit in the 5A it'd be great to see more private schools participate at all levels

How competitive is the middle school league compared to classic D1, D2, D3?

Best I can figure, Trinity Springs has 1 D1, about 5 D2 and a couple of Arlington/Plano players

Sounds like a good mix of experiences. Glad to hear Keller is organized in the middle schools.

OldCastle, we have a middle school post with a lot of information on it. Run a search, check it out, and post up. Soccer at the middle school level is developing rapidly throughout the metroplex.

Rockwall and Sachse have middle school soccer also, but our season was last fall. 6 team league playing each team twice. All of the Rockwall middle schools had multiple D1, D2, D3 and Plano kids. Quality of soccer was a little better than expected.

I think most of the middle schools have at least 5 that play club soccer on their A teams. There are also several 97's that are also playing on middle school A teams (Trinity Springs has some of these and probably the other schools). Over half the Odyssey 96 team plays at different middle schools primarily Keller and Hillwood which have at least 3 from that team.
Unfortunately, my son is not able to play due to a fractured hip so I am not as involved. I think he wanted to play with his middle school friends more than his club team (school spirit .
The Keller/Northwest middle schools also palys against the Southlake middle schools.

Staley Middle School in the frisco ISD is 4-0-0, with wins over Pioneer,Roach,Clark and Griffin. Our team has only two D2 classic kids and two PPL, the rest of the team has not played any type of organize soccer.
We have beaten two teams that had at least 7 players playing classic and/or PPL. Makes me wonder if classic is overrated or it's all about money.
Most of this kids will go to Wakeland or Frisco HS, Wakeland just won the State Championship this past weekend. Looks good for either school,

    Argyle
    Carrollton
    Christian
    Little Elm
    Princeton
    Prosper
    Sherman

All compete in a Middle School/Junior High (7th & 8th grade) league. Cannot speak for anyone but Little Elm, but there seems to be a good mix of Classic League players.

I think that the private schools participate in these leagues at the high school level. Our middle school season ran from December to the end of February I think. My sons goes to The Oakridge School and we played teams mostly over in that area (FWCD, Temple Christian, Trinity Valley) and just a few from the Dallas area (Cistercian, Greenhill and one other). I would say soccer at this age in private school was more like rec soccer. Maybe one or two players that play select, a few that played at the Y and several that had never played at all.

We are now playing baseball and seeing the same type of thing. Maybe 2 or 3 that play select, several that have played Optimist or Little League and several that have never played at all. My son finds it all very frustrating!

    Gpoo,
Say what you want about any High School Championship, but only a few kids get to taste it. With all due respect to your comments. Any type of High School Championship or Select league Championship will always be special.
With that said, it's about what the kids did. For some of these kids, this will be the biggest game they will ever play, and trust me you will never forget. I know having won two state titles in two different sports in High School over 25 years old.
Again Congrats to Wakeland and any other champions in any sport.

My son plays 8th grade soccer for a Middle school in the Lewisville ISD and his team has 5 D1 players and 2 D2 and 3 PPL, and I know of another team that has at least 4 D1 Players on it. Look out for Flower Mound and FM Marcus in about 3 years.

I know for a fact Coppell does NOT have Middle School Soccer but that hasn't seemed to hurt the High School in Boys or Girls
They have 3 middle schools and at least at East I think only my son plays Classis (2-3 6th graders do though) but I know there are several at North and West so I guess it would probably be 3-4 good, 3-4 decent and the rest avoiding PE Smile

Actually thats average for middle school in a competitive district. In high school that would be considered below average especially at Marcus. Last year Marcus had 3-4 Academy players.

Nope no such Academy clause. Most HS'ers in Academy get to play HS except for the FCD kids. FCD last I heard forbid their players to play HS.

I can confirm that is correct. Although, there are rumors that the Academy itself will ban high school play in the near future - not a good thing.

Having watched Marcus soccer for the the last ten years, I think the next two or three years will be average for Marcus. Win a couple of playoff games but can't get past Jesuit or the gigantic enrollment Plano and Allen schools in the playoffs. Marcus string of five straight district titles will be hard to keep going since the UIL stuck Marcus in with Allen and Plano for the next two years. However, if anybody can get it done, JG can.
