FC Dallas 99B Black Recieves bye into Classic D3

Post  afrankw on Sun May 09, 2010 2:04 pm

FC Dallas Black, which came in 7th in PPL this past year has posted that they have recieved a bye into Classic D3 for the next year. Did they get this bye because either FC Blue or FC Dallas Red will not be in D3 next year? If so, why doesn't the 75% rule come into play and who owns the spot, the club or the team? I know I could find the answers on the website, however I have learned from my kids that it is easier to just ask. Thanks for your help.

The answer is the club receives the bye. Basically the club gets an invitation to field a team in the spot. FCD has 1 D1, 3 D2, and 2 D3 spots avaliable. They can put whatever coach and players they chose into each of those spots. The 75% rule only applies to a coach trying to leave a club. Last year FCD took on of the 95 D1 byes and put an entirely new FCD juniors team in the spot. Nice to hear black will be getting a D3 spot and I suspect additional players to field a strong D3 team. I believe red will be playing D3 next season which means FCD blue will be folded and it's players moved to the other teams including black.

Thanks, stinks to be on the team that was folded and earned the bye in the first place.

So if I understand correctly this FC Black team bypasses the four teams that earned the opportunity to play the challenge tournament (two Arlington, two Plano)? Wow. I guess there are some pretty good advantages for the big clubs. Great to be able to pick the most talented kids from many FC teams.

Do you know who will coach this team? The FC Black coach, the FC Blue coach, Jesse Suarez?

don't really know for sure. But FCD black doesn't bypass anyone. Teams don't get the bye the clubs do. If the clubs that are in the challenge tournamet have another bye they could always give it to those teams . It's all clear in the rules and always has been. Don't hate the players hate the game.

I would modify this slightly by saying "don't hate the players or the game, hate the Classic League Bye rules. Under current rules the club owning the bye can put anyone in any position. I am sure FCD will try to field as competitive a squad as they can but if your going just by the rules they could field a herd of cats (in hoops colors of course) in any of these positions.

yes the could as long as the cats have their birth certificates and meet the age requirements. The teams that were "passed" over shouldn't be concerned. Regardless of what FCD black does, it doesn't change the fact that they failed to get themselves into D3. The sense of entitlement is also missplaced. Performance last season does not guarantee you a spot on a team or in a division next season.. The idea that you earned a spot in laughable. What you earned was whatever spot you ended in. The next season is a brand new one. Nothing wrong with the bye rule and go FCD black . BTW who can tell me something about the coach? BB's friend may be heading there.

Nothing to do with the coach. If the players leave without the coach they still take the bye.
