Re: 96 Frisco/Shawnee
TOUGH- what is tough?
1. not easily chewed.
2. able to withstand hardship, strain, or exposure.
3. difficult to endure.
4. requiring considerable physical or mental effort even though one studied or practice for it, it's still a tough task.
5. requiring exceptional skill or caution in performance.
Related Words: abstract, abstruse, complex, complicated, hard, intricate, involved, recondite; stubborn, troublesome, vexatious, vexing; burdensome, demanding, discommoding, exacting, importunate, inconvenient, onerous, oppressive, painful.
Winners win because they WILL themselves to WIN. Losers lose because theywill not. A winner doesn't win just because they willed themselves to win every time they try to win; they win because they refuse to lose every time they lose.
To a winner failure is not a settlement, but a way station to a stronghold of conquest. The loser settles where they are, the winner is unsettled until they reach that Fort called 'Victory'. The loser will not sacrifice any more energy or will power - disappointment robbed them of inspiration, and they settled where they were weary.
The winner on the other hand understands that without sacrifice there can be no real victory - for sacrifice to the winner is like fire in the belly, the fuel of inspiration that speaks with assurance, "I think I can - win!" The winner burned sacrifice as a fuel, overcame his psychological fatigue, and reached his final destination.
So as far as TOUGH, it's never tough for a WINNER.

Actually Odyssey defeated the Texans 1-0. The posted score and standings are incorrect. Odyssey won the bracket.

I stand corrected.
FCDB beats Odyssey in PKs after double overtime...FCDRW beats Andromeda. FCDRW vs FCDB in the final.

Re: 96 Frisco/Shawnee
What happened???? I figured DTRW had the tournament wrapped up. Weren't they the only D1 96 team in this tournament? Maybe I misread the teams that were listed. Did alot of teams have guest players?

Re: 96 Frisco/Shawnee
Actually, I think the surprise of the tournament was FC Dallas Blue. After not winning a game in D2 and being relgated to D3 they had a pretty strong showing. I know they had some guest players but it was still a good tournament for the team after a long season. Congrats to FCDRW for winning the tournament.

Re: 96 Frisco/Shawnee
Che's group played very hard and I don't think they had any guest players. Keeper was OUTSTANDING!!
Multiple PK granting Center ref in semi was a dork! LOL. Not really.....Unfortunately (for us) they were the correct calls!
Congrats to FCDRW on winning the championship! Well played!

Re: 96 Frisco/Shawnee
congrats to Chris and his crew...great job boys & coach.
DTRW started well but had only 11 players for the last game and couldn't find the net as usual. Poor call on a pk and the ball was rolling (like a foot) when kicked but hey it's soccer and a low level tournament so you can't blame the ref's. No scores usually isn't a good thing and besides the other team playing inspired ball the credit/blame has to ultimately fall on the team not the ref's or any other crazy thing that happens.

Re: 96 Frisco/Shawnee
So on the PK; the wind blows the ball after the ref whistles to take the kick. What is the call? Were they correct in letting it stand or should he have whistled it as soon as the ball moved. Any refs with an answer on that ?

Why ask? I'm sure the rules starts out "In the opinion of the referee...".
