Given that their 'ranker' for this age group is no longer ranking them - they probably have some method to their madness. It's certainly better than when he kept ranking his son's team #1 despite losing tournaments or games (yes, he was a parent on our team). I'll always remember that.
NSR is slightly more credible than a random soccer dad you meet on an airplane who happens to have a son the same age as yours.

Whats to argue?? They have a team ranked that doesn't even exist, and hasn't for 2 years. Thats what I would call an embaressment. Hell next thing you know they may rank a club that doesn't exist. They need to cut back on the mota and at least make a credible effort at getting their facts straight.

It's not political - it's one guy - the only difference between the academy one-man-show rankings on this forum and this one is that the ranker probably hasn't seen most of the teams play. It's spelled out in the website - we worked with them to sponsor a national tournament so I'm familiar with how it's run. .

The regional rankings are a crock as well. We just beat the 13th Ranked Region III team 2-1, and we did not do as well as we could have.

Re: Latest National Rankings
The criteria says that league play doesn't count for as much as tourneys and strength of competition. I think State Cup counted which may explain part of the mystery.

Better National Ranking System
This is the one college showcases use more respectable with system for rankings:
www.gotsoccer.com
Go to rankings this is based on tournament and league play in last year. It is real time pretty much as long as everyone uses gotsoccer for tournaments which most do. In fact I would recommend never playing in a tournament that is not ranked by gotsoccer since your results will not show up in this system.

Agreed, but they do not rank U11.

hmmm...exact same record against the same competition. Gunners lost in the fall to SR. However, i bet if they played again it would be far more competitive. Gunners beat FCD in the state cup tourney. You have always trashed the Gunners and it makes me wonder why. Does it bother you a bit that a indy ended up tied with the great Solar Red in D1?

Re: Latest National Rankings
nope i'm actually glad for the Gunners but tied??? I think SR is 5th and Gunners are 6th in classic league? wins losses and ties and total points are the same but goals for and against= edge goes towards SR, and head to head competition? SR has shut them out evertime they have played by multiple goals so........... go figure? I guess whe will just have to see next time we play!!!!!hookem wrote:omega striker wrote:what a crock! I am not sure really. Part of me wishes we were, and part of me is glad for the break. This is the 1st memorial day my family has had off in 4 years or so. Gives us time to BBQ, go to the lake, etc.

I think gunners could be primed for a few interesting pickups and slo-er red could be getting a few drops. I am picking the Gmen over red this next season. Useless ranking for the 99's are stupid but I agree with gmen ranked over red.

Yep, definitely been taking one too many swigs, Go99! I've always been impressed with SR and if they pick up a few more talented players, I don't see them slowing down.

Re: Latest National Rankings
I was always impressed with solar red also but the coach bailed on soccer as soon as they left academy. I don't know what the hell they are trying to do now (cough "kickball"). Wheels fell of that wagon last season. Maybe he can get it together but being out in the soccer boonies sure isn't gonna help him get players. Gunners however are a D1 team with multi sport athletes. There has to be a few good players feeling the pinch of having to chose who would like to keep playing in D1. Gunners is not for me but I like what they are doing. Solar red, you broke my heart last season. sniff! sniff!

Alright, Go, you do give an honest opinion. Don't most club coaches "give up" from academy to select? What about the term "hand off", or in soccer terms "finish" academy.

Well solar used to play a very good game for academy soccer. Plenty of ball movement and creativity. Same coach took them into select and decided to start kicking the ball up to a single forward. They have a nice group of players but frankly lack the pure athletes it takes to kick and run.

Warning: Single forward = not 1st.
