    96 NAMDC etc

    Post  soccerdad96b on Tue Jun 01, 2010 12:58 pm

Congrats to DTRS for winning the NAMDC.
In looking over the results of the tournament, I am scratching my head over Andro Red losing to DTRW, beating FCD, and then losing to SR. I would love to hear some chatter about:
Was Andro Red just off, or did DTRW and SR just play really well (no goals allowed on DTRW or SR in those matches)? Then, how do explain FCD losing to Andro Red? Crazy stuff. I also saw where SR tied East Texas Spirit.

It just goes to show that if the boys on a team show and play really well and believe they can win, well they just might! Was the absence of Texans Red due to having no coach in place yet? Is Texans Red West a team to reckon with in the coming Fall season? They have played well in recent tournaments...

I understand DTRW will be taking some from DTW in hopes of forming a stronger side. I also heard that DTRW has only had one sub the last couple of tournaments. If that's the case, then they have indeed done pretty well.

DTRW and DTW are merging into one team, to be coached by the DTW coach (Hodder) under the DTW name. Not sure what's happening to the DTRW coach (Scott) but that team will be no more. Personally, I think Scott is the better coach so I wonder how the parents are taking this decision.
Look for the better players from DTRW & DTW to go to DTR South... this past weekends tourney win will be a great recruiting carrot to dangle.

I dont see this happening as Txns South practices at Mountain Creek in Grand Prairie vs Farmers Branch for the other 2 teams. There are many long term loyal parents on DTRW, if the merger is true with Hodder coaching......ouch!

Actually, I think that Hodder will coach the merged DTRW/DTW under the DTRW name since they finished higher than DTW. The second team will be DTW coached by Shamu. Then Shamu's DTN (D3) team will get a new coach that comes from PPL. According to DTN page on Texans website, this appears to be true.
Agreed that R Scott will be missed. He has a reputation as a great coach and great person.

So you think that families won't make the trip to the hood if it meant a D1 spot and Dallas Cup? I've seen others make much longer journeys for much less. The question is are families willing to make the trip if their kid is sitting on the bench? If the kid can start, the trip wouldn't be so bad.
Coaching... don't understand the Hodder move, even more confused with the Shamu move. Shamu has proven very little with the 96 group. They were placed in D2 a couple of yrs ago b/c of the club bye rule or teams dissolving (can't remember), got relegated back to D3 where they really belonged, then wasn't able to get back to D2. I think I would've picked a coach (Scott) that took a team from D3 up to D1, and let him coach in D2.
