Re: Top U8 Teams
Your still basing your ranking on one outdoor game against them. Indoor and 3v3 are not how rankings are based around here. DT South does not take guest players to tournaments, I'm not sure about Dynamo. Start getting Leon FC out to games more to face some real competition and quit living off of one outdoor game against dynamo. DT South has beaten Dynamo everytime they have played, at least 4 times so dont base your ranking on one game. Maybe Dynamo had a bad game, maybe your team just flat out beat them, who knows. play them multiple times and beat them and then rank leon fc.

T5house is correct. Dynamo is a strong team, still top 2 team. They were probably missing players, verycommon at this age. When they have all their players there, they are very strong!

Hey Artes will this team be playing in SDL this fall season? If so will it be under Leon FC or FC Dallas? We always look forward to a challenging game but we play with no guest players.

Hey you're right SouthSoccer it's U9 now. The topic should change to Top 02 team. This season should be interesting. Players getting better and new teams adding themselves to the mix.

Futbolista we have been looking for a team to scrimmage all summer long, why wait for SDL lets get it popping!!!This would be good for both teams, some good old soccer before the season starts. Artes can you make it happen from your end?

Hey it's not my team and my son doesn't play there... Ranked 2nd or not - I couldn't care one way or the other. I've followed Leon/Lion Cubs as I have followed other teams and I can say that they belong to the top 3. In my own subjectivity they are 2nd right now - you don't have to agree or disagree, you just have to deal with it.
All I wanted was to point out a team that apparently nobody heard about. Now the thread turned towards the team.
We'll see how this fall turns out. Should be interesting...
Again, my son doesn't play on Leon/Lion Cubs.

Yeah... my bb has been looking for a team for about a year now, I really like the way DT plays. My bb has learned alot over the summer, so will see how he does; I can tell you this team is for real their practices are better than games. Looking forward to a scrimmage before the season starts to see how he/DT looks like.

Artes good looking out, hopefully the team you mention will play SDL. I’ve watched a lot of U8 soccer the past year, lots of good teams so to add another one make this age group better. Can’t wait for the season to start.

Re: Top U8 Teams
Can't we all get along?!
It's really hard to rate a team that doesn't or hasn't played the majority of teams out there. We use results from SDL, Primetime, and Tournaments. I hope nobody out there uses rec results for ranking purposes. If this team hasn' t played SDL or Primetime in the past than I assume they have been playing rec since I know they aren't weekly 3 v 3 leagues.
My BB has played on different teams so I have seen a good amount of teams and from what I have seen the top 3 teams are in this order. DT South, Solar Dynamo, and AYSES. Each of these teams play good football for being 8 years olds. But from what I have seen in head to head DT South by far is the best. All 3 of these teams play well as a group. They pass, shoot, and defend very well.
This is an opinion from somone who doesn't have a dog in the fight.

Well this has gotten interesting. New Leon team that's pretty good getting in the mix. From the little that I saw they're pretty good but it was a scrimmage.
We'll see where if they stack up against the big boys on the list that have already played each other in a few tournaments.

How can you rank Leon FC (Lion Cubs/FC Dallas) #2 if their only bragging rights are beating Solar Dynamo twice indoor & 3v3. They would need to show/prove themselves in order to be considered the Top 10, maybe even Top 20. For someone to "not" have a kid on the team, you sure do know alot more about them than anyone else. just sayin..

At this age, the powers that be say "go with the Hispanic team".

I watched FC leon play indoor at RISE this weekend and they are impressive. If they are 6 or 7 I would hate to see the top 5 teams.

Re: Top U8 Teams
If you saw them this weekend, then you saw them playing against a team that had one 04, three 03s and two 02s, with one 00 goalie thrown into the mix so that they'd have enough kids to play the game. Never mind, that was at Inwood. They are impressive, but there is definitely competition out there. Some of these kids came straight from the Little Giants rec team, which was the top Carrollton rec team in their age group. I was told by one of the parents that the FC Dallas owner's son is on that team? And that everything is paid for by him...so I guess that's probably why they'll eventually end up as FC Dallas. Don't know how much of it is gossip, but there you have it, straight from a parent whose kid is on the team. Don't know how much of it is true, though...jlussi wrote:I watched FC leon play indoor at RISE this weekend and they are impressive. If they are 6 or 7 I would hate to see the top 5 teams.

Ah oh... players receiving "gifts" from boosters. They blew that NCAA D1/D2 thing really early.

Uh oh boosters? In that case they will bring in free agents from all over the metroplex to beat what I see as the number 1 team in this age division. Watch out DT South!

The big boys? Do kids actually stay together at this age? I keep seeing new faces on the DT teams. Pretty hard to rank a team when the faces keep changing. I'm just now starting to take my 00 more seriously because this year, at least, there's no mobility.

Re: Top U8 Teams
To clarify: There are two Leon FC teams.
Leon/Lion Cubs were playing at Inwood this weekend while Leon/Tigres were playing at RISE.
Leon/Lion Cubs were playing vs TX Storm which is a team made mostly of 03s in order to get some competition.
Leon/Tigres were playing at a RISE indoor tournament vs rec+ teams.
My son plays in Mustangs FC, not in Leon. He's not even 02 - he's an 03 playing on the 02 team.

Just saying they looked like a good team, if they are not the best then so be it, I would like to see the better teams at some point this season.

Most of the kids were 01s except for the goalie a defender and the left mid forward.
Coach didn't have enough kids for the tournament due to vacations.
Leon FC/Tigres won the u8 tournament.

Don't think so. The coach we have right now has a different mind set than what we have. He wants to go the PSA then Cal way.
If it was up to me we would be there battling with everybody.
