    Liverpool growing (acquiring CC)

Post  oldcastle on Tue Jun 08, 2010 10:11 pm

Liverpool is growing by acquiring/merging with another club.
Yes, this is a business, and mergers and acquisitions are a common practice in the business world, sometimes it's good for the consumer, sometimes it's bad.
I'm not too hopeful about this one.
It will be particularly sad if the Dutch - Brazilian style of CC is lost to some of the Liverpool kickball practices. We'll miss the Oranje in Classic and Plano.

Are you sure? Could it be a couple teams or coaches moving over?

So will the new club be called Liverpool? Doesn't make much sense as CC (especially CC West) had several teams in Classic League. Liverpool not so much (although their younger teams are faring OK).

If this is true then those very interesting CC orange and navy uniforms will be replaced by more teams wearing red. Yawn.

All teams to be called Liverpool. Don't know if the West teams are in or out but my understanding is that every CC team is in. More important than the boredom of red colored jerseys is whether over time the boredom of kickball played, particularly by the younger teams, will be adopted widely. I can't see WR, GP or CH adopting that style though...

Their fees are probably about the same. I remember hearing both were fairly high. Liverpool would pick up a couple of decent coaches though if they stayed.

I haven't heard a thing about this and I have one of my bb's playing on CC. Not to say it isn't so, but who says this is happening?

Hold the phone, guys. Only the facts: CC Plano teams will be joining with Liverpool but will not be leaving its Plano Y location. CCW teams will stay CC for now. WR remains DOC Liverpool/CC for boys. Nothing changes but jersey. No coaching styles will change because those remain the "property" of the coach, not the club. Change is inevitable and this will be a positive one for both clubs. Teams remain intact. Philosophies remain intact. In the end, as many of you know/understand, it's only a jersey. Some Spirit teams will move, some will not.

You must be assuming CC team members get memberships! You would be wrong there, My Friend.

No formal announcement will be forthcoming for the time being. This will be very low key. No drama. CC website will remain as is for time being and will change when situation warrants. Not sure about Liverpool website.

You must be new to soccer if you think a club dictates kickball style of play. I would love to see that directive come down to coaches:
No more organized/thought-out movement of the ball

You can go to any level of soccer and see kickball in any given short span. In games, the player (and play) dictates kickball, in practice, the coach does, not the club.

From a bye standpoint (not a business one), the league must approve the merger for the byes to remain with the "new" club. It is up to the clubs to approach the league and submit the request and any paperwork to prove it is a true merge.

This isn't a merger. It is merely the Plano teams moving over to Liverpool. That means they have to maintain 75% to keep their byes. I assume WR is confident that he has his 75% on his 2 D2 teams or else he would have merged the clubs.

I am guessing that this was a way of splitting from the Spirit teams. I have heard rumors that WR doesn't see eye-to-eye with Adrian.

Many, if not most, of the Spirit teams are making the move to Liverpool, as well. AS is over the West and they are staying as CC.

I think the issue was between CC and Tx Spirit. Apparently CC wanted to add girls and Tx Spirit add boys -- and never the twain shall meet. (insert explosion sound).

I think it is more of a function of another small club throwing in the towel against the bigger club competition. WR started CC and has worked for years to build it the right way. However, once he starts extending out to grow, he loses coaches and teams to bigger clubs. I think the years of trying to balance budgets, hire and keep good coaches, and field Classic level teams have taken its toll on him.
At Liverpool, he gets to be DOC, without having to worry about the admin / financial issues. More focus on coaching and developing players. Not sure that he will be able to change the culture of Liverpool, but, he has a better chance of growing the club than he did at CC.
I suspect in 2 years, he will be creating / joining a new club to start over "the right way".

Didn't Liverpool do this acquiring stuff under a different club name a few years ago? I can't remember the club name, but it kind of blew up?
    Remembered.....Everton.

I am not sure but it sounds like Liverpool is doing just fine, so whatever happened in the past sounds like they learned from it and moved ahead.

I see Liverpool and CC are two of six teams in the Flamefest tournamnet. Doesn't look like much competition in that tournament.

AG is the CCW DOC. WR is the executive DOC. What does that have to do with Spirit? There are no issues between WR and AG, nor have there ever been. Maybe you're referring to the Spirit DOC?
