What happened to U14 King Tut this year?

Post by foghornleghorn on 7/9/2015, 10:52 am

There are only 6 U14 Boys teams registered; missing are Texans, Andromeda, Solar, and a bunch of smaller clubs.

Is there a backstory to this, or just coincidental?

Thanks in advance,  FL

I thought the King Tut was super popular among the younger age groups U11, U12, but it's importance fades for the older groups. I know for my family, we've been focused on June open practices for the past couple years so right after signing day, we're looking for a bit of a break in the action and some time sitting with our feet in the sand.

That sounds fair. It looks like U15 B has 10, but U16 and U17 both have about 6 as well.

The girls side on the other hand looks well attended:

U14 - 18
U15 - 14
U16/17 dwindle off.

thanks debit!

I think it has a lot to do with timing, at least that is the case with my BB team. A lot of people on vacations, at camps, etc in July. We really enjoyed it last year though. The 4 guaranteed games at this point of the year helps you focus on coaching and working out issues before the season with out having to worry about trying to make it to the playoffs. We did a lot of position moving last year, playing defenders in middfield, fowards in defense, etc to test the waters.
