And then they were gone... Bunch of teases... Classic League schedules beat them posting their schedules and they are 2 weeks away. If I remember from last year, they were s-l-o-w then too.

As I recall, this tournament has always made ongoing changes to the schedule - up to and including the day before.

As long as I have been around, the schedules have never come out before the weekend before and have changed up to the start. This is the largest tournament in the area with around 500 teams easily bigger than memorial and Dallas cup.
Sit back and praise the volunteers for working long hard hours putting this together so the few of us can debate on this little forum.

Yes, and this is their 30th year of doing it. You'd think they'd have figured it out by now. I will grant them some latitude, but they have had all their information for well over 2 weeks now. Enough is enough, seriously. The tournament starts in 6 days (5 days if you count Friday night games). They have teams coming in from out of town, and they also have 500 teams worth of people with lives. Contrary to popular belief, soccer moms and dads (at least this soccer dad) do not usually like to block off all 3 days of a 3 day weekend so we can sit around and wait for these folks to tell us whenever our games might be.

what a drama queen! You think the same people have been scheduling 500 teams for 30 years? Have you ever volunteered for a tournament? The copying alone takes cases of paper. Next time don't participate in a labor day soccer tournament and go to the lake.

I have to agree w you OTS, enough is enough, post the frigging schedule and stick to it!!! I have to work on weekends, fortunately I can usually schedule around games, but it doesn't help when you have ppl complainng about brackets and seedings, just play whichever opponent you draw and may the best team win.

Because it IS a huge tournament, the schedules should be out by now. People are coming from other states, and from distances in Texas. They need to know when they are going to have to be here. Seems obvious.

I really do appreciate the volunteers on this process, as I do much charitable work and volunteering, however, this is a for profit tournament, as most of them are, so do your job for crying out loud!! Sorry I had to vent, an this is directed to all soccer scheduling...it usually sux!!

Next year play in the Bob Wiseman or the Arlington Labor Day tournament, they have their schedules out earlier. This way you would have to get so upset.

Yea, always with the volunteer card. I tire of tourneys who whine and moan about how difficult their job is with so many teams, so many coaches, so many fields, so much this, so much that. Talk about drama queens. Guess what - it's not about you - it's about the teams - your paying customers!! Don't run a tournament if it's so hard for you.
The people doing this may be volunteering, but their organization is certainly reaping vast benefit for their services. 500 teams at 575 dollars per team is a well over a quarter of a million bucks. And that doesn't even touch the $$$$ kickbacks that the tourney gets from the out of towners who are required to book in their overpriced travel agents' rooms.
There is utterly no reason in the world that schedules could not have been out a week ago, period, end of story. It's not that difficult. Hire a couple of temps to help out.

Think you can do better? Then put up. If not, shut up!! Their jobs are raising their families and doing the 9 to 5 grind. They are sacrificing their family time for a nonprofit organization that provides activities for our youth and betters the community. Of course they could put their time to better use and come on here and whine "wheres my schedule." Here is your schedule; 2 games Sat. 1 Sunday More Sunday or Monday if you go though.OnTheSurface wrote:soccerrus2 wrote:what a drama queen! Who is complaining except the douche bag parents that rather get on a forum and whine because they don't have their schedule a week before! These volunteers don't make money from this but spend tremendous hours getting ready for this tourney. If you can schedule 500 teams with coaches with multiple teams...start your own!

Uh, those "douche bag parents" PAY for the blasted tournament. If you are one of the schedulers, or a buddy of same, maybe you should be thinking about how to improve your product or your customer service instead of writing the customers who raise an issue off as "douche bags." Is it the official position of Plano Soccer that they are douche bags if they ask about the schedule?

nope, just a customer, a volunteer, a coach, and a referee of PLD since 1989. I know the schedules will come out soon but don't let it wig me out!

Maybe it isn't the schedulers or the tournaments that have the issues. If all the team would pay in a timely manner they could put the schedules out earlier, however many team don't and some teams register and don't play. They communicated to the managers and coaches about the time fram, so this should have been no suprise to your team when the schedules were going to come out. Tournaments try to get the accepted team list and schedules out as early as possible, but they don't want to have to go back an reschedule over and over again because teams drop out. If they stick true to the cut off they would leave many teams out of the tournament. Having the schedule five days in advance is enough time, you know you are going to play on Saturday, Sunday and if you are good you can make it to Monday. Plano gave your team an option to play on Friday if you could and if you couldn't they honored that request. Everyone should just relax and enjoy the tournament.

I agree with your comments OTS. If my short-term memory serves me correctly, I don't think any of the larger tournament schedules have ever come out until most times the Wednesday before the tournament and then changes are made up until the day before the first games are played. Another thing I have noticed is there is a small group of familiar names in North Texas Soccer associated with the scheduling of several of these larger tournaments as well as league schedules, Classic, CAL,... That is a lot of scheduling/logistics at this time of year for a 500-team tournament and league schedules. From an operation research perspective it is a complex problem that not just anyone off the street could tackle. Yes, there is software that does the heavy lifting but you still have to know what your doing to understand and model the problem correctly.

If you wish to see "Dawn of the Dead" on a soccer pitch, wake up REAL early on both Saturday and Sunday and watch U-18 & U-19 games beginning at 7:30. Talk about torturing our youth! Some of them won't even go to bed before a game THAT early. In all seriousness, a number of players kick for football teams Friday night that won't get them home before 12:30 AM.

Our first game was changed from Carpenter to Pizza Hut, I guess Pizza Hut wants their parking fee.

I am impatient and I admit it. I know my son will play 2 games on Saturday and one on Sunday. But what if he had one on Friday night? It would be nice to know so that I could make arrangements to get off work.
I'm as flexible as they come. But schedule changes the day of and before??? Will be interesting. Glad we aren't playing any games at Pizza Hut, nice as it is. Won't mind missing the parking fee at all.
Good luck to all!! Game on!
