    Quick question about Texas teams?

Post  omega striker on Fri Aug 20, 2010 9:35 pm

I have heard from time to time how good teams from west tx, south tx and the centex area are but wonder why we have never seen ANY of these team in lets say the "state cup" tournament? i'd like to know how well we stack up with these other teams? one team that i wanna see play is the Lonestars Red 99' squad from the austin area and i can't find anything on the gotsoccer site about them? all i know is the placed 3rd in the 98' division 1 bracket where their from anyways lets discuss and see where we all end up arguing? lol!

You don't see the teams from STX because they have their own version of State Cup. Texas is in two parts for purposes of a "State Championship". http://www.stxsoccer.org/Competitions/DistrictSTC/index_E.html

STX teams don't use gotsoccer, for whatever reason. They use e7sports, sportsaffinity, and others.

At least in the 97s, the top handful of teams in the STX clubs bring a good game and are competitive with D1 NTX teams.

Lonestar consistently has good teams. They are a quality club out of Austin. For those that get to play PL, they should get their chance to play'em. For the rest, travel south my friend. Wink

I had completely forgotten abot that - blocked it out of my mind, I guess, LOL.

Austin tourney brackets are the worst homered-up that I've ever seen. And Austin referees sure do seem to call in favor of the Austin teams .. a lot.

Austin clubs don't like for NTX teams to win their tourneys.

The ref bits sound like sour grapes to me. A whole tournament or area of dishonest refs? Hardly. And if their tournaments are so homered up and biasedly reffed why are you going back for more or is all these "facts" about Austin soccer garnered from one go around?

holy crap i saw this first hand and no for sure will want to ever go back down that way and will surely let any coach that my son plays for at that time that i would object to going down their way for their BS crap Mad and i will say this once again they should not let teenagers ref competitive games especially championships! There are a few quality teams in STX top division but as a whole I would say NTX Div II teams generally give STX Div I teams fits and do very well in their tourneys. The (4) premier club teams aside, Div I NTX generally beats up pretty good on Div I STX. This is based mostly on '93 year group experience. As for officiating, I've observed more physical play from the STX teams than NTX in the same tourneys. Given that, it's often very curious when the official starts to call fouls after the NTX team figures out how physical they are allowed to be. But that's probably my bias.
