00 Plano Labor Day Scores and Analysis

    Post  soccer23 on Sat Sep 04, 2010 12:00 pm

    TFC 5 Wizards 0

    Solar Red 2 Bandits 0

Maybe that answers some of the questions about SR.

    FCD Premier 3 Toros 0

    Celtic 1 Solar 4

Not sure what that says about Solar bc not sure about Celtic team.

FCD East 1 DFW Tejanos 2

Maybe Tejanos not so far behind indy.

    FC Comets 1 Liverpool 2

    Chivas 5 TFC Blue 2

Looks like a long year for Blue

    NT Strikers 5 Waco 0

Think Strikers will be playing Monday

    Longview 4 TFC Red 1

Longview looks second best in this group.

    Hurst 9 Celtic 0

Guess these OK teams aren't as competitive as some thought they might be.

OKC Celtics are not a tough group to beat. They are the strongest club in OKC. The Tulsa teams are a bit tougher. At least in the older age groups.

mcc, I don't want to get into this again today. That's what I posted, Solar beat Celtic by a score of 4-1.

That was a good game. TFC came back to tie towards the end. I thought Bandits had time of possession won, but you can't overlook the speed of that TFC forward, he can force the ball down the opponent's end fast.

Or maybe after this weekend people will have to give the Partain team some props.

More technically, Solar worked the ball around the outside of the defense all game long. The score would have been much higher except for a few shots that sailed just wide, a timely bounce off the crossbar, and some desperate and scrappy defense that saved this from being a rout.

Gold Division - everything is really still up for grabs. Everyone except for Celtic and Comets could advance. A wild and crazy Sunday morning!!

Silver Division is a little more clear cut. Tomorrow is just to see who gets #1 or #2 seeds in quarters (interestingly, finishing #2 in any bracket gets you an extra hour and a half of rest tomorrow). And the second wildcard spot is available to everyone not listed below. Someone could get that spot with just 5 or 6 points. But every single one of them is fighting for it in the morning, so everyone has something to play for in their third game! That makes it fun and is great for all of the boys! Everyone's coach can give good pep talk!

    Already advancing are:

    Chivas and Odyssey

    Strikers and Longview

Liverpool, FCD and Hurst (one of these will be Wildcard #1)

FC Dallas Premier did not look strong at all, they played a Toros team with 8 players on field and only won 3-0. Toros missed 3 good chances of goal also.

Can someone shed some light on where all the Ineffective non English speaking refs are from. Is there truth to the conversations that they bused a group in from Mexico??

Not sure what your agenda is, but Toros had a full squad if not at the start , then immediately after the game start. Not sure about the 3 chances, but I saw 11 Toros with my own eyes as I watched Wizards fail on the field right next door.

North Texas Strikers lost to TFC Blue 1-0, is this correct I need a witness, what happened? I guess they deserve that being a D-1 team hiding in the silver brackets, and lets not forget the bronze bracket in the King Tut, maybe its the lack of competition they have been facing backfired in their faces

Strike that, the website has just fixed their error, it was Liverpool over North Texas Strikers, not TFC, still be it I think Strikers are on a down slide because of the competition they choose to play

A team does not always get to pick what bracket they play on. You might request gold, but Plano might put you in silver based on your ranking and other factors. It's hard to be trophy hunting at this tournament.

That is exactly what happened. We complained about being put in the bronze division and they would not change it.

Striker, sorry I had no idea that was how it worked, so what happened in the game against Liverpool, Im not taking anything away from Liverpool somehow they always seem to pull it out, but I know you guys have a very good team, and was wondering if the lack of playing good teams was affecting you guys in any way

Better question is what happened in the Liverpool v. Solar Stark game? seems like that was the anomalous score today with Liverpool only winning 1-0. Liverpool is a good team that got stuck in the toughest group at the QT. They will be playing in Classic League next year though.

Also, what happened to Hurst United? They seemed to be rolling.

Hurst just had a bad game. A couple of defensive mistakes, lucky bounce for Longview, and one of the worst non-calls I have seen in first half. Hurst had breakaway to goal, defender barely catches up and pulls down Hurst from behind in box. Should have been PK and red card. Could have been a difference, but Hurst just wasn't on their game.

I doubt AC Longview will be able to beat Liverpool but should be a very good game, AC longview has one very good forward they try to force the ball to and a very fast defense, and I agree Liverpool will probably make classic next year but they will have to duke it out in PPL with another team everyone is saying got a raw deal in the classic QT tourney in Metro. I am predicting a Odyssey and Liverpool final with Odyssey taking it in a tight one. In the gold div I am predicting TFC over the Bandits in the final

Amen to this one. Had one in a U17 game that sucked big time...and I mean big. What's the deal?

I got TFC over Bandits in the final, 2-1.

    And, Odyssey over Longview, 1-0
