    Best Fall Tournaments...

Post  totallysoccer on Fri Sep 24, 2010 8:34 am

We are in the process of choosing tournaments for this fall season; I need any/all input on which one to attend...Looking for a somewhat DII and below (DII, PPL, APL) competition:

    Aces Fall Challenge
    WAco Fall Competitive
    Xara Fall Classic
    DTSC Fall Festival
    Swords Fall Classic
Texas Winter Classic (not on NT website, but is on GotSoccer)
    Hurst United

See if any of the tournaments list results from prior years to see how many teams attended. Need to be careful as ALOT of the tournaments in the Fall/Winter were cancelled last year due to weather issues. Sometimes it's better to schedule scrimmages and save your teams tournament money fund.

    Amen to that.

Check out PrimeTime Sports too. They have some fall tournaments. They did a good job last year securing other fields for their tournament when everyone else was rained out last fall.

HUSA forced through a couple Friday night games in the rain at Hurst Tourney last year, then ganked ALL the entry fees-- no refunds of any kind. FYI

I'd agree that when choosing a tournament, read their rules and see what their refund policy is. There are a few that offer no refunds at all based on weather cancellations.

Almost every tounament will keep 50% of your entry fee, even if NO games are played. Most keep 100% if the tournament starts and is later cancelled. This includes getting in a couple of Friday night games and even if your team isn't scheduled to start until Saturday. Some will offer you a slightly discounted fee for a future tournament. Keeping a portion of the fee is understandable for outlays that occur weeks in advance of the tournament. Not sure about 50%. Taking 100% after playing a few Friday night games is highway robbery. But, they are all this way and you are just going to have to take your chances with the weather. Not a lot you can do to avoid it.

No mini-games at Aces or XARA tournaments. All games are full-length, like league play.
