Im predicting that they were fortunate to get the two wins they did. They can easily go 2-6 or 1-6-1 their next 8 games. If I'm not mistaken, they started off solid last year then hit a wall and it was mediocrity from there. But who knows what will happen. They are 14yrs old.

Yep, I've got a 12 year old playing CL in this age group. They can be super hot one game and super cold the next. It's ok with me. I'm focused a little further down the road...

3 for 5.
Sawyer surprised everyone but themselves beating Cates. Sawyer came out to play and showed that any given weeekend they can compete.

FCD West was just too big and fast for FCD Blue. No surprise there

FCD Borgatello is spiraling down and DT Craft showed well with the win.

FCD Premier vs Solar Deleon was a great game to watch. Solar dominates in possession and it was evenly matched the whole game. FCDP fought to the last minute but Solar's keeper denied them with an amazing save that would had given a FCDP the win in the last minute. Hats off to both teams

FCD Waters showed why they already have a Dallas Cup bid by beating FC Premier. FCD waters defense was just too solid and FC Premier offense was denied any opportunity to get in a groove. FCD Waters proved to myself and everyone else who didn't believe theybwould win this game.

Solar Sawyer vs Solar Cates 0-3

FCD Che West vs FCD Che Blue 2-1

Re: Predictions for the upcoming season

Let's get it going for the coming weekend.  Putting a little bit of contrarian view in this week's picks because if I've learned anything, it's that just when I think I've got it figured out, 14 year olds become 14 year olds again and trends go out the window.  As usual, my likely very incorrect predictions:

Solar Cates 1-0 FCD Central Waters
Cates turns things around from last week's loss and sends Waters back to the drawing board

DT Craft 0-2 FC Premier Opoku
Texans striker contained by FCP defense, FCP finds a couple of goals to stall Texans momentum up the table and right their own ship

FCD Borgarello 2-1 Solar Sawyer
Sawyer looking to continue rise but run into a wounded animal looking at a must-win game

Solar DeLeon 2-3 FCD Che West
DeLeon dominates possession but Che speed up top capitalizes when chances come

FCD Che Blue 0-4 FCD Premier Dane
Bad string of injuries puts Che in a tough position, which ironically is just what the doctor ordered for an FCDP team that has slowed down the last couple of weeks

Good luck to all!

Lol, Longview I was going to write my praise in the morning, but will do it now. I'm thinking I may not even go to the games next weekend and just watch for your "predictions". On a side note, any predictions on the stock market this week? Asking for a friend.

Getting my predictions in early this week.  After last week, if these picks go well, I'm heading to Vegas baby!

FCD Borgarello 1-1 Solar Cates
Borg is mid-table, and Cates's average performance is a 1-1 draw, so sounds like a good prediction here

DT Craft 1-2 FCD West Che
The new boys continue their strong showing - are they staking claim to a Top 4/SRPL spot?

Solar DeLeon 2-2 FCD Central Waters
Styles make fights, and this one will be fun to watch, but the clash of different approaches ends with a sister kiss

FC Premier Opoku 2-2 FCD Premier Dane
FCDP finds FCP a worthy match, and they split the points

Solar Sawyer 2-3 FCD Blue Che
You heard it here first - Che's boys dig deep and get their first win of the season against a snakebit Sawyer team that is better than their record shows

Good luck to all, and here's hoping that every kid dealing with an injury is back soon.  Growing bodies, higher aggression, and outside influences (read: MS/HS football) are taking their toll across the league.

Longview, predicting 3 ties is quite the call. I will play it much safer in the world of unpredictable 14 year old boys.

Borgarello over Cates 2-1
One of these two will get a spark this week. Coin toss said Borgarello

Craft ties West 1-1
My only ties of the weekend goes to 2 teams that have great talent and are fighting for momentum. Craft's snake bite luck finally starts to turn.

Waters over DeLeon 2-0
Waters has something to prove in this double count match. Their defense is getting stronger and their set plays are paying off.

Sawyer over Blue 2-1
Two teams struggling for confidence right now. Both have the talent but Blue still seems stuck.

Game of the week
FCD Premier over FC Premier 3-1
FCD avoids giving up set plays forcing FC to try to manufacture goals on the run. FCD gets their standard 3 goals and widens their lead in the division while hanging on to hope in the regionals.

Best of luck to all the boys for a safe, fun weekend of play.

1 for 5 last week, so nowhere to go but up. If I regress to the mean, maybe 2 or 3 right this week...

FCD Central Waters 2-1 FCD Che West
Hard fought battle goes Central's way

Solar DeLeon 1-0 Solar Sawyer
Sawyer's misery continues in a game they have chances to win

FC Premier Opoku 3-1 Solar Cates
FCP builds on last week's top of the table showdown

FCD Premier Dane 2-0 FCD Borgarello
FCDP rights the ship after their first loss last week

DT Craft 2-2 FCD Che Blue
Che comes oh so close to a second win in a row but Craft finds a late equalizer for the draw

Good luck to all!

Longview, looking for the predictions for this week (and anyone else willing to venture a guess). Based on my past results I don't think I should ever provide another game predection update. Good luck to all the boys this weekend. If i where to make a general prediction, it wpuld be that there should be some more major movement in the standings after this weeked..

This week completes the first round of games, so will be interesting to see what the standings look like after everyone is on level terms competition-wise.  Here goes:

Solar Sawyer 2-1 FCD Che West
Upset special - Sawyer makes it interesting in the relegation battle spots

FCD Che Blue 0-2 FCD Central Waters
No rest for the weary as Waters maintains its hold on third place

FCD Borgarello 1-3 FC Premier Opoku
FCP keeps the pressure on the top of the table, but gets pipped for the Dallas Cup slot

Solar Cates 0-3 FCD Premier Dane
FCDP sews up the Dallas Cup spot with a convincing victory

DT Craft 1-1 Solar DeLeon
Texans miss a chance to put some daylight between themselves and other 4th place candidates

If I'm right (yes, unlikely), standings would shake out like this:

FCDP                 22
FCP                   22
FCD Waters        17
DT Craft             14
FCD Che West     12
Solar Cates         11
FCD Borgarello      9
Solar DeLeon        9
Solar Sawyer        7
FCD Che Blue       4

All to play for in Round 2 - battles alive for 1st place, SRPL slots, and relegation spots.  Going to be interesting to see how standings shake out at end of the 12-game fall season.

This is the last week for Dallas Cup Qualifying? I know it was the first half, but assumed it meant through all the games in the fall. Makes more sense it would be this weekend.

3 for 5. FCDP locks up the Dallas Cup slot.

What surprises will we see the second time through the schedule? Standings at the end of Match Day 12 will give everyone food for thought during the 5 month break. Per CL website, the spring game dates are 4/8 to 4/28 -- can someone peak at the right time and make a late move up the table? Going to be critical to be hitting on all cylinders during that 3 calendar week spring season. Pity the team that has key injuries at the wrong time.

4th -8th place are two wins/losses away from jumping up/down. Turning ties to wins would make a huge difference to some team. The second half of the season will be just as tight. It appears 1-3 are making the separation from the pack

Last year my BB played with '02s. If last year was any indication, a LOT of growing can happen over the next 5 months once the boys get back from Spring Break. It is like everyone got new teams. The next 3 games going into the break will be very important for all clubs looking to hold or extend their leads. Good luck to all and Congratulation to FCDP for winning the first half and qualifying for Dallas Cup.

10 rounds in the books.  Most interesting thing for me at this point is that 5 points separate 3rd place from 8th place.  We may still see quite a bit of movement in these standings before it's all said and done.

Totally inaccurate predictions for this weekend:

FCD Che West 1-2 FCD Premier Dane
Che West hangs in there but FCDP a little too strong

Solar Sawyer 1-3 FC Premier Opoku
Sawyer unfortunately gets a motivated FCP looking to keep their hold on 2nd

FCD Borgarello 1-2 FCD Central Waters
Waters reverses the Round 1 result, doesn't get assimilated by the Borg

FCD Che Blue 2-3 Solar DeLeon
DeLeon announces their intentions to the top half of the table via a tight win

DT Craft 1-1 Solar Cates
Honors even after a hard-fought match

Good luck to all!

Two great games last night.
FCD waters held their own with FCDP last night with 1-0 at half. At the end FCDP was just too much. They look very strong and disciplined. They will be the one to beat this second half.

Solar Deleon beat FC Premier 2-1. A great game between the two. It was a battle to the end of the whistle. Two highlights from the game Solar keeper had a ESPN save off a direct kick but wasn’t out done by the goal to tie the game by FC Premier. A blast from outside beautifully places in the upper 90.

Thought it would be interesting to do a form view over last 5 games in the league.  Most recent game is nearest to team name:

FCD Premier WWWLW
FC Premier LTWWW
FCD Waters LWTWT
Texans Craft WTWWL
Solar Cates WLLWT
FCD Borgarello WTLLW
FCD Che West LTTLW
Solar DeLeon WTWLL
Solar Sawyer LTLLL
FCD Che Blue LLLWL

FCD Premier, Texans Craft, and Solar DeLeon in best immediate form.  Can they keep it up over last 2 match days or will someone else finish strong?

Thanks for the layout Longview. I really had no idea how the teams were heading over the past few weeks. Makes sense why FCD Premier is pulling away from the pack. If Craft can handle the guillotine of the current top three, they are in position with momentum to finish 2nd. Should be a great finish to the season. Looking forward to yours and others weekend predictions.

1 of 5 right.  By the way, I sell my advice for anyone looking to be wrong a lot.

Congrats to FCD Che West, Solar Sawyer, and FCD Borgarello for taking points off the top 3.  Texans and DeLeon on the rise as well.  6 points between 2nd and 8th? Crazy.

Updated Last 5 Form stats.  Most recent result is on the left nearest the team's name.  The number after the form represents rank of results in these 5 games (i.e., who is the hottest).

FCD Premier LWWWL     3
FC Premier LLTWW     5
FCD Waters TLWTW     4
Texans Craft WWTWW     1
Solar Cates LWLLW     6
FCD Borgarello TWTLL     T-7
FCD Che West WLTTL     T-7
Solar DeLeon WWTWL     2
Solar Sawyer WLTLL     9
FCD Che Blue LLLLW     10

Re: Predictions for the upcoming season

Post by longview on 10/30/2017, 7:37 am

We're down to the final match day for the Fall.  Getting my very inaccurate predictions in early:

FC Premier Opoku 2-1 FCD Che Blue
FCP avoids a 3-game skid against a very game Che Blue that can't catch a break

Solar Sawyer 1-3 FCD Premier Dane
Speaking of can't catch a break, Sawyer gets an angry FCDP coming off a loss a week after Sawyer's great win over FCP

DT Craft 2-0 FCD Central Waters
Texans solidify their hold on 3rd place while Waters enters the offseason going in the wrong direction

Solar Cates 2-3 Solar DeLeon
DeLeon finally breaks their curse against their fellow Solar team

FCD Borgarello 1-2 FCD Che West
Che West finds a goal late in a hard-fought match

If these predictions are right (which they won't be), the table would enter the winter break like this:

FCD Premier 28
FC Premier 23
Texans Craft 23
FCD Che West 19
FCD Waters 18
Solar DeLeon 18
Solar Cates 14
FCD Borgarello 14
Solar Sawyer 8
FCD Che Blue 4

With these results and some additional goal difference, Texans could be in 2nd and DeLeon could be in 5th.  One thing is for sure: we'll have a lot of time to evaluate the Match Day 12 standings.

Going to be a great finish to the Fall season. I will again not put in my prediction as I have had team ask me not to pick them because of the SI Cover curse. Good luck to all the teams and I am loving this tight race happening. Hopefully all the boys (and especially the parents) are taking this in stride and keeping in mind that these are 13/14 year old boys playing a fun sport.
