MLS Expansion Draft - Dax gone?

Post  Prism on Wed Nov 24, 2010 8:44 am

Left exposed in the Expansion Draft, and Soccer by Ives projects him to be the first player taken.

Love his play...would really miss seeing him in hoops!

We'll probably lose Jeff Cunningham and Daniel Hernandez, too.

If age is the prerequisite for Cunningham, then it shouldn't it be applied to Hernandez? Both were born in 1976, Daniel in July, Jeff in August...

I think the loss of Hernadez would have a bigger impact. He is one of the coaches guys and had a big impact on the team coming together under Hyndman. This of course hinges on him coming back at 35 from a off season knee surgery. I think FC Dallas may also look for a forward or look to one of the homegrowns to play a bigger role up top.

Yes, those SMU rivers run deep, don't they? I believe we will start to see more local talent show up in the MLS with the new rule changes. Maybe a grandson or two along the way...

yes with the limit rmoved from homegrown players I suspect we will see a number of signings. FCD lost several very talented players because of the limit.

Was it just me, or did Shea disappear during the Final? Did they find him before they came home? Shocked

That explains the Brek Shea Public Service Announcement at Halftime. cyclops How can a big boy like that evaporate into thin air at crunch time?

He hasn't played the same since his slide tackle red card vs NY. It took the edge off his play...speaking of edge, someone needs to take the edge off Conor Casey's play...and speaking of jack wagons, what happened to Henry. I will never forgive him for swift kicking Kevin Hartman for no reason...

Dax is gone. Traded in the first round to the expansion team in Portland, who then traded him to DC United. Attiba Harris was traded to Vancouver.

You'll find them right next to the ref's whistle that went missing. As for Henry I think he got a multiple game suspension and a rather large (for MLS) fine. I am really not sure but I think it was 2 games and 10Gs.

Dax & Atiba? That's what I hate about modern professional sports. You get to liking a team and they blow it up at the end of the year. Mad

Is it embarrassing to not be protected and not get selected?

I guess FCD must think Dax's back up is the real deal huh?

More that the team's desire is to run a 4-4-2, which makes Dax the odd man out in center midfield and he makes too much money to sit the bench.

So, we're planning to move from the 4-5-1 to a 4-4-2 next season? Who gets moved up top? Shea and Ferrari? Eric Alexander played 17 games with 2 goals and 3 assists while Dax was out. I guess Alexander would become our new holding mid...

Fereira would be the center attacking mid. Daniel Hernandez would be the defensive mid. My guess is Alexander is a sub and can fill in for Hernandez or play right mid.

Up top, I really don't know what they will do. Luna should be fun to watch after having a full off season/pre season with the team but, I'm guessing FCD has plans to bring in a high end forward and possibly 1 or 2 younger ones.

Ok, could we center our D with the Hernandez boys and bookend them with Heath Pearce and George John?

I doubt it. The coach is pretty set with Ugo and John in the middle.

Jeff Cunningham was traded to the Columbus Crew in the Re-entry Draft.

FCD aquired Keeper Chris Seitz from Seattle in exchange for a 2012 fourth round pick. He played for Philly last year, starting 22 games with a GA average of 1.8.

Who is going to replace Cunningham's 11 goals next year? Will Hartman secure the starting position at Goalie?

Heath Pearce is the latest casualty in the cotinuing player saga of the reiging Western Conference Champs. He was traded to Chivas USA for room on the salary cap. He was bringing in decent money at just over $200k. Taking his spot at right back will less expensive players, Zach Loyd ($57k) and Jackson ($75k).
