It's just unfortunate that it's the same weekend CL starts the season and most coaches won't do both.

I agree, the girls start the following weekend and of course the boys are only , I think, under 11 thru under 14, all the rest start in April. I know the tourney will work really hard around any scheduling issues.

100% refund of entry fees if the tournament rains out? That must have been expensive. Kudos to Liverpool and PB for stepping up.

There is no mention of this weather insurance on the Liverpool website. I would think that if they had this insurance they would advertise it. Last year they did give back 60% of your entry fee, instead of the 50% that most tournaments give back.

The wording below is from the LP website. Sounds like they did 60% last year (isn't 50% the traditional rainout refund?) and will be able to refund more than that this year, but it doesn't state 100%... In any case, sounds like they're trying to provide great customer service and great value in case of rain. Let's hope it doesn't rain and isn't freezing cold!

The Legacy Freedom Cup has invested in “weather insurance” for the 2011 Legacy Freedom Cup. The Legacy Freedom Cup Tournament values your support and participation in the tournament and wants to assure our teams, that with the added insurance, and should weather become an issue that closes the fields, the tournament will refund even more of your money back to the teams.

Last year, with an unusual freakish month of rain, many tournaments could not be played. In an unprecedented sign of respect for our teams, the Legacy Freedom Cup refunded approximately 60% of every team’s registration fees. It was the first time a tournament had refunded anything more than the market had deemed acceptable. And this year, should Mother Nature strike again, we are ready with an even better refund! We believe being prepared for the unexpected is part of our responsibility as one of the premier tournaments in Texas, and it is why teams come back to the Legacy Freedom Cup, year after year!

Spoke to tournament director and due to younger ages in the CL starting the same weekend, for those ages affected, the Freedom Cup will play those games on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and possible one game on Saturday, or Sunday a.m., that will be scheduled to avoid any conflict. They are trying hard to make it work and accommodate those teams.

Also heard today there are several teams registered from Oklahoma, New Mexico, South and West Texas. Should be a great tournament.

Why doesn't anybody realize the potential between now and 03/20 that U-15 and above does not have a tournament to play in. Could Legacy Cup extend that with the extra fields they had available and needed the money ???? Or any Club to see this, or am I missing something here ???

You're missing the fact that most U15 teams are not playing anywhere between now and the start of Spring Season due to High School soccer. There is no market for U15 and above tournaments during this part of the year. A few of the top teams will play in a showcase or two out of town but nobody wants to play a local tournament just to get touches - the high school players are already playing 2 - 3 games per week.

So Coach D, how much to you return to the teams when one of your tournaments gets rained out? Let's compare with what Legacy Freedom is going to pay just for fun to see who has the best policy...

Funny thing is that the "weather insurance" they got for Legacy Freedom Cup doesn't cover ice and snow, they just bought the rain policy. I think this is pretty funny personally. Anyway I'll be curious to see how this works out.

At least they're making an effort...I can think of one particular tournament that lots of us tried to play in last year who offered absolutely no refund whatsoever...

If you're referring to the AYSES tournament last winter then so be it, I wasn't with the club then so that has nothing to do with me. Plus, no tournament has to refund money and lots don't. Lots do and some give you credit toward another tournament but no one gives a 100% refund. Anyway, don't be so rude I just thought it was funny that the insurance didn't cover ice and snow...and it's the end of January/early February in Texas. Understandable but still funny.

    #1 Ranked in Texas?? Ha!

Between showcase and highschool...we will be "soccered" out by the time league play begins. I'm just glad its a shorter season.

The comment didn't come off as being rude, in my opinion. It seemed like a simple statement of fact. Maybe you're just overly sensitive because it was your club?

I would have to agree, that weather insurance for this time of year that does not cover snow and ice is absurd....kind of on the level of stupidity, sounds like some thing our fine government would come up with.

This is very true. For "weather insurance" to cover rain but not snow and sleet in the middle of the winter is ridiculous. Isn't sleet just frozen rain? So the coverage is based on what physical state the rain happens to be in? Really? Nothing against the organizers of this tournament, they at least tried to do the right thing but whoever paid for this "weather insurance" that doesn't cover winter weather in the winter was taken..
