    High School Soccer Updates

Post  Soccernovice on Sat Jan 08, 2011 9:36 am

McKinney Boyd has moved to new district this year in 5A looking good out of the gate. New coach and team has worked hard all fall.

    Friday night result:

    McKinney Boyd 0

    Jesuit 0

This was a friendly with all the typical caveats but both teams played well had injuries etc etc. Jesuit #1 ranked in country on ESPN RISE High School rankings.

Watched Coppell v Flower Mound in a non-district match last night. Great game and perfect weather. Boyd should have a competitive team again this year. Jesuit had some defenders and their Keeper graduate, but always a threat. Best of luck this season!

Not much to report at this point with 2 scrimmages in. Coach has figured out the mid-field it seems but much work to be done with the back line.

As for me I'm enjoying it immensely. I've known many of the kids and parents for some time and it makes for good atmosphere.

It was a good game. Coppell was up 2-1 at half and then FM shut them out in the second half with 2 scores to make for a 3-2 win.

We will know a lot more after this weekends tournaments.

OS, you know recruiting never happens in HS sports...and, HS coaches have no influence in MS sports, either...

Coppell seems to be struggling, losing their first two games. I heard there was an incident between a player and coach during the game?

I wouldn't put too much stock in the early matches. Especially since UIL makes the 'transfers' wait their 15 days.

The problem for Sachse is Jesuit since they are in the same district. Here is the complete TASCO High School Preseason Soccer Rankings.

Interesting list. Thanks. I would not put too much stock in it. 4A Aledo (#5) graduated 9 starters last year and was down 3-0 to Weatherford at the half Friday. Did not hear the final. I know this is another part of the world for most on this post but anyone hear the final on that?

Naaman Forest looks great so far but let's see how many keep up the grades to play! As with all the schools. Laughing

Jesuit isn't in District 10-5A. Still think the favorites in that district are North Garland, Naaman, McKinney Boyd and Rowlett.

Now now, lets at least get past these initial scrimmages. Smile

But to the point on rankings, our Pearce girls graduated many starters so I'd say the rankings are...a starting point.

You are correct, Curtaldo. I said district instead of region. Restated: The problem for Sachse is Jesuit since they are in the same region. I agree with Yak, it's a coaches poll starting point. Anything can happen. My top picks for NTX are Jesuit, Southlake, Marcus, Plano and Coppell.

Based on yesterday's result, Jesuit has a long way to go to be competitive at a high level this year. FM Marcus beat Jesuit 3-0 and it could have been 5 or 6 to nothing. I guess Jesuit is having a bad "recruiting" year. LOL!

Tale of two halves. Marcus dominated the first half. Jesuit dominated the second half. Typical preseason tournament. Both teams with players missing. #1 forward for Marcus was a no show. Jesuit had 5 starters, 3 of them Academy players, out for various reasons. Warm up tournaments are not a real good indicator. Lake Highlands had 3 of their 5 Academy players out for the Ice Bowl tournamnet. So I'm skeptical to rate them down even though they didn't win the Ice Bowl. Probably the best team I saw at the Meister tournament was Nolan. Marcus sqeaked by them on a questionable handball in the box. Nolan looked very strong. Jesuit is not the powerhouse from last year. But then, Marcus looks much weeker than last year too. It's a long season.

Not my quote, Grinder. Don't live in FM, but they used to play in our district. Hey, K-man, your Naaman team had some nice wins last weekend. Nice work by the boys. The HS season is upon us. Yes, SR2, I'll step out on that limb. You may want to step back, you might get slapped if it twitches. Cheers! Razz
