'98 Boys Spring 2011 Classic Predictions

Post  FSFFL on Wed Jan 26, 2011 2:04 am

It's been a very slow Winter. Now that hopefully all of our boys are healed from football injuries I thought I'd get things going for the upcoming Spring season. Here's my predictions...some bold and some not so bold.

    D1
Solar will continue to dominate as usual.
Tigres, SR, and FCD round out the top 4.
FCD could very well finish 8th in the alternative if they don't solve the defensive woes.
DT climbs out of the hole and finishes 6.
    TFC and Kicks are relegated.

    D2
    Pumas and Tejanos are promoted.
Ayses Gold falls back to 4th after surprising everyone in the Fall.
Ayses Black and LP are relegated.

    D3
Waco and ASG West are promoted.
Mustangs make a late push but can't make up the ground.
ASG North and Blitz have to play to stay.

No real science in any of these predictions. I tried to take into account the winter tournaments, but there's no telling who was guest playing with who. Mostly want to get the discussion going. Any takers?

FCD Premier added an incredible striker who will be one of the top five 98's by the end of the Spring season.
If anyone saw the DT Tourney in November, you know who i'm talking about.
He scored 12 or 13 goals during that tournament.

See above. I didn't know if that guest player was from another team or a permanent addition. If another team, 8th. If permanent, 4th. They're still going to have a problem on D if they didn't work on that, but they'll outscore many teams.

Good for FC Dallas for finding a strong player, especially a striker, at this stage in D1.

I have to say that this is one of the more thought out predictions that I have seen for this age group in a few seasons. It seems that current trending may have been taken into account on this one. I am sure not everyone will agree.

I knew the new kid was good, but damn, not that good.
How many did he put it? 5 or 6?
Or did the others step up?

I guess we are going to have to check this kid out. That is impressive.

    Another head scratcher...FC Dallas Premier 3 Liverpool 1, (a D2 team)
Makes one wonder if TFC just did not show up to play at all.

Anyone know anything about this MO team coming out to a 'friendly'?

I watched them play TFC royal and it was anything but 'friendly'. It looked more like a Testosterone driven U16 game. I heard them described as an ODP team from the Kansas City area not a standard club team, hence no record of results in got soccer.

What everyone fails to see regarding FC Dallas Premier is that they they beat TFC no name (Reagan's team) 11-0. Both TFC's played in the tournament. Don't get me wrong that kid is good.

I don't think anyone failed to see that. Fabio pointed it out and the discussion went from there.

Re the KC team, I takled to some of the parents during one of the games and they were talking to each other about "my son's team beat your son's team" so I was thinking it must have been a collection of some of the best boys from their different select teams. The ODP team explanation would seem to make sense.
