    "Spring" season weekend weather

Post  DadofDefense on Tue Feb 01, 2011 9:25 pm

The low temperature Friday night is forecast to be 24 degrees. With an early morning game scheduled for Saturday, I am concerned about the welfare of the boys. So my question is, how cold does it need to be for Classic League to cancel this weekend's games? or at least the early morning games?

Let's see, right now the forecast is low of 25, high of 45. Given the precip that we had and the fact it won't be melting much prior to Saturday, I would say there is chance of a complete washout of Saturday games. If I had to predict what would happen I would say 8:00 and 9:30 games are cancelled and 11:00 on would play at Richland. For PHP (if there are games scheduled there) I would predict any games that play will be moved to turf fields.
Any other guesses? Let's see who is the best predictor pirat

Good call omega. All Classic League games for this weekend have been cancelled and tentatively rescheduled for next Sunday, February 13th.

I just watched the weather forecast. Even though it is 50 degrees in Dallas right now, it is 0 degrees in Abilene --- and it is supposedly coming this way.

Any predictions on if the boys will get to play this weekend????

No idea about Richland/PHP, but I know city of Dallas has informed several rec associations that due to the bad weather last week and delays in prepping fields, if anything falls from the sky tomorrow, it will be impossible for them to get city fields ready and goals moved for any games this weekend.

I may be looking too early, but Classic has not updated the website nor the hotline yet.

I work near Richland and I checked out the fields at lunch today. Field conditions were surprisingly good. I'd say get your boys ready to play!

While I am relieved that bb's 8:00 a.m. game is cancelled, I am really surprised. I walked fields 6 and 7 today and they seemed fine. I have seen them much wetter on misty mornings when games were on. Any insight into why they are not allowing games Saturday morning? Concerns about field conditions for Dallas Cup maybe?
