4wks Left - Promotion and Relegation Talk

Post  TxHunter on Mon Feb 28, 2011 2:09 pm

With just four games to go, some divisions are very tight (D1 Relegation and D2 Promotion) - who do you predict in each Division?
    D1 - Relegation:
TFC (Angel) and who else - with 4th through 9th separated by 4 points - interesting finish! FC Dallas Premier and Real Madrid have tough closing games - the March 12 matchup of Real Madrid vs FCD could decide who stays and who gets relegated
    D2 Promotion:
Tight Battle between 5 teams separated by 6 points and the top four by 3 points. Lots of head to head battles in the next few weeks with the top four squaring off in the last week of Classic Games. Fall results of the remaining teams on schedule:
Pumas 3 - 1 - 0 - will tie and loss to DTR and Ayses Gold haunt them?
Tejanos 2 - 0 - 2 - will loss to FC White and tie to FCD blue haunt them?
Ayses Gold 3 - 0 - 1 will loss to Tejanos and ties against Fort Worth and Pumas haunt them?
Dallas Texans 2 - 1 - 1 - will tie to FCD Blue and Loss to Babel haunt them?
LiverPool Babel 1 - 0 - 3 - playing well lately, but losses to LP and Ayses Black very costly in the standings, but beats DTR and ties Pumas
Who is going to get promoted?
    D2 Relegation:
Ayses Black and Liverpool - Hurst United has difficult closing schedule playing three teams via'ng for Promotion and could slip
    D3 Promotion
Three teams for two spots (ASG West, Tyler Azzurri, Waco Blast)
Tyler should be favored in last four to win
ASG and Waco have identical schedules and play last week of season - tied in previous meeting - WF Mustangs will have big say in promotion playing both teams
    D3 Challenge Teams
Between OC United, ASG North, and Texas Blitz
    - ASG plays both OC and Texas Blitzh
    - Blitz beat OC in the spring

Don't know alot of these teams but I think FCD prem will hold on to D1. They have a very strong attacking line with plenty of options. The defensive line is solid but keeper seems to be a question. They have some excellent club options for keeper and maybe even 1 or 2 for the defensive line. The weakness seems to be in the passing in the middle and their ability to make the attack more complex. Often 2 direct and straight forward to the forwards making them much easier to mark up and control. They have a couple of options there also as a club. Don't know if they will make a move or not and think they will stay up even if they don't but the certianly have options to play with.
D2 relegation may be more interesting than stated. Liverpool woody has had a ressurection and their rise could lead to a fall for someone else. Say goodbye to ayses but hurst is circling the drain. FCD blue's performace seems to be like texas weather, always changing. A top BB being MIA and a blind disregard for the looming situation could spell bad news. Hurst is what it is but their staying up probably has more to do with others. Can Woody save LP? If he does somebody give him a cape.

I watched most of the 2nd half of Tejanos and FCD Blue. Interesting game. FCD Blue clearly had possession advantage and Tejanos had NOBODY on their bench (and their forward that's really good was MIA). About mid-way through the 2nd a Tejanos defender whiffed on a ball, setting up a 2 on 1, and FCD Blue scored. Tejanos coach promptly ordered the offending defender to put the keeper jersey on and moved the keeper up front! The funny thing is, the defender made some really good saves and the "former keeper" pretty much had his way with the left side of the FCD Blue defense. Possession advantage changed and Tejanos was able to score late.

    A few thoughts/questions:

    1. I think this tie is defintely going to haunt Tejanos.

    2. Perhaps there's something going on with Tejanos? Why would they have no one on the bench?

    3. I loved the coaching move! Gave me a good laugh. If each game didn't matter so much, I'd love to see more kids moved to a position where their play affects others to give them a better perspective. I have no idea if and doubt that's why this coach did it, but just thinking about that was great!

D3 is indeed anyone's game, even the 4th and 5th spots after 5 games in have a chance. Some are playing more consistently than others though. We will have to see how it all shakes out!

Dont be surprised if RM and FCD survive and TFC Royal go down. Royal have a tough run in the next 4 games... Kicks could also fall if they lose to FCD this weekend

Pumas have one point on everyone else, plus they only have one more game against the top 5 teams, while the other 4 all have to play at least 2 of them. So, unless they get complacent, I say Pumas are going back up. Second place will be a real dogfight. Given recent performances, and given that they have an edge in points over DTR and Babel, my money is on Ayses Gold for the other promotion. They are tied with Tejanos, but Tejanos have to play 3 of the top 5 in these last 4 games.

For D1, TFC is cooked, but for the other relegation, I have no idea any. Let the fur fly!

Still like ASG West & Waco to move up from D3.

The keeper was actually better on the field than the kid he replaced. BTW everyone has their way with the left side of the FCD blue defense,

I would have to say these two teams are inconsistent at the present time, especially Waco who has only won 2 of their last 5 against some teams they should have beat handily. I think Tyler will be up there with ASG, followed closely by Waco and Mustangs.
