State Wars...anyone know anything about it?

Anyone know if this really is a competitive tournament, with a good rep & good turn out? We're kind of interested, it'd be fun if the best Texas players really got put together on a team.

Looks like all age groups can tryout, 2003 and younger grouped together, single year grousps for all the olders ones.

So, apparently its the first year for the soccer side of State Wars. On Bigsoccer.com, some people were trashing it because they keep rankings/too competitive for young ages.

We like "competitive" so I just registered my 2 boys for the tryouts in Austin - one will tryout for the '01 team (I think, he should play for '02, but he was born in '01) and the other for the '03 team. If they make it, we'll decide if we're actually going to travel to Milwaukee based on what we see at the tryouts. (If not, we still got a good weekend in Austin I guess)

I hope Texas has a really good team, so if you have a good '01 or '03 player, come try out! I am really hoping that a) there are lots of kids for the coaches to choose from, and b) there are some talented, competitive players in the mix.

    I love you

Well, it looks interesting at first glance, and not ridiculously expensive ($35 for tryout and $175 if selected). Anyone with any further info on this?
