FCD no keeper, injuries and missing kids on a team with nothing left to play for. They are in D2 either way. Played a portion of the game with 10 men on the field. Pumas coach did a good job of throttling down to keep the score as low as it was. FCD would not have won either way but might have been able to put up a better fight.

Some real blowouts and surprises today. Spring Break plus some teams starting to check out for the year I guess. Solar & Tigres both get tied by teams on the bubble for the bottom. Woodberry group should have won, but not by that much, same with the Pumas. I guess one more week and then the jockeying begins. When will it be known whether the DA is going to do something at U14? Is that a possibility for this coming fall? If so, will that be known before signing week? What is the timetable for that decision.

The other D2 slot is between Gold and Pumas. Pumas will play Tejanos, Gold had better get out and cheer wildly for Tejanos.

Does Ayses gold really want to jump up??? They should look at tfc year before they start cheering too much. I am not sure Gold would be able to recruit enough fire power to not have a misreable year next year. Tfc has not won a game the entire spring season... that has to be tough on team morale

I don't know if they want to or not. They may not get past their last opponent either. But I think you are right, it could be a long year for them up there unless they trade out a bunch of players.

There will probably be a few TFC boys looking after they way they have fallen apart this spring.

Next season the roster size jumps to 18. With coaches being able to say for certain they have at least two openings means you can expect changes.

Does anyone know the answer? And, isn't DA age pure? If so, how will this effect current 98 teams? Lots of questions about U14 DA....

I don't think USSF is going to go to U14. They currently have U18 which is U17/18 and U16 which is U15/16 (which answers the question about whether DA is age pure...it is not...although you may have been talking about calendarized, which is addressed below). I've read articles on DA on the USSF website and the only official word from them that I could find was about two years ago that they would NOT expand to U14. I've heard the rumblings as well recently, but I think it's coming more from the member clubs as a recruiting tool. US Club Soccer sanctioned a U14 "Pre-Academy" league in the northeast and USSF said they supported it as preparation for DA. Several clubs across the country then started "Pre-Academy" teams but you have to pay club dues to play on them, which is what DA is trying to get away from.

USSF recommends that for each age group you have a pretty even mix of players and one or two exceptional younger players. For example, most U16 teams have a good mix of 94s and 95s and one or two 96s. Remember, however, that DA is calendarized, meaning your age is determined on January 1st instead of coinciding with the Fall league. So, for 2011-2012 DA, the player will be born on 1/1/95 or after. So, kids born in 1995 will be U16, kids born in 1996 will be U15, and these groups will make up a majority of the U16 DA teams. Kids born in 1997 (which I would guess include just less than half of our 98s) would have to be "exceptional" players to be on a DA team. There are no limits on playing up in DA, so it's possible that even a kid born in 1999 (and that is one our 98s) could be on a U16 DA team, but I would think there will be very few of these.

All that to say...I think the impact of DA on our 98s this upcoming season will be minimal. Next year should be the year where we really see some kids disappear from Classic to DA.
