They came from D3 and almost may D1. That has more to do with COACHING than the actual players. If you have the best players on one team they can make any coach look great. Give KS a bunch of mediocre players and see if he can replicate this. I don't think so. Look what happened to FCD when they lost their best player to Solar. It is not ALL due to coach. This is only a part of it.

Kudoes to you! That Solar 98 is nothing but a "98 CL ALL-STAR TEAM" that contains 2 of the best beast playars recruited from the TFC Royal State championship team last year, 1 top mucho grande playar from the Dallas Texans 98 State Runner ups the previous year, 1 top speedy gonzo defender from the Top 3 Andromeda team from last year.

All recruited by KS personelly which means right now he is the best recruiter in the CL hands down with the richest parents from Highland Park at his disposal!

Only compatition for this 98 All Star team is go out of state and take this party somewhere else to see what they got.

But if you know of any wealthy HP parents, please send them our way, as we don't have any (yet)!

FACT - DEFINITELY NOT THE SAME TEAM THAT WENT AND WON IN CALIFORNIA - NICE TRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FACT - NEW TEAM WON DISNEY - WHERE EVERYGROUP IS A WINNER ON A WEAK DISNEY TOURNAMENT.

    Ladies & Gents-

Please see below for next season (CL is now a thing of the past and meaningless) it's now going to be called USSF:

    US Club Soccer Pre-Academy
    U13 - 98's
    U14 - 97's
    U15 - 96's

About 1/2 of each of those 98 teams in CL have 97 and 98 birth year players. The USSF teams now will separate that age groups as well as the others, meaning those that played CL 97 will have the advantages over CL 98 with their 1997 birth year players.

In other words, it's going to be the most competitive for the CL 98s now that have to go to USSF 1997s league.

Good Luck, things are going to get tricky and let the recruiting begin for top 1997 players.

What an ignorant statement. Will the pre-academy teams take some talent away? Of course. But to say that the departure of 75-80 kids per age group (and that's if Andromeda hangs on) means the CL is meaningless is sheer stupidity. The Development Academy took talent away from the older boys age groups but the league did very well and was still competitive.

...and you got your facts a little off. USSF and US Club Soccer are not the same thing. USSF runs the Development Academy. Read about it on their website. Their emphasis is on development and they want to get rid of pay-for-play soccer. They only have two mixed age groups. U18 (for U18/17) and U16 (for U16/15).

US Club Soccer is a totally separate entity and is sanctioning this "Pre-Academy" league. Read about them on their website. They are a member of USSF, but their focus is different. It may be the cynic in me, but it sounds like a money making plan for the clubs. It basically gives them another "spot" for new players. Take the current CL D1 players, put them and some new recruits on this Pre-A team that is such a great concept and will be the pool for DA! Then, based on CL rules, the clubs maintain their bye in CL. Pull some more new recruits by telling them they get to be in D1. Basically, it supplants the loss the clubs are experiencing by losing players to DA (for which they cannot charge club dues).

No 98s will be playing in a USSF league this year.

My opinion is that it doesn't matter much whether your 98 BB plays in CL or "Pre-Academy" next year. If your BB plays in CL next year and is better than a player on some club's Pre-A team, do you really think the club is going to favor their Pre-A player for a spot on their DA team the next year? That's not going to happen. As it has always been and will always be (and should be) the club will take the best players, regardless of where they came from.

I would guess "Pre-Academy" is going to be expensive if you have to pay club dues AND travel expenses. I hate that the clubs are so money-centric, but I do understand it's a business to them. I love the idea of the USSF DA, but the clubs can't support it if they don't make money. All this stuff just drives me crazy!

I have to admit that that is pretty funny. Doesn't change my position, but funny nevertheless. Laughing

I have to admit that most people aware of the situation do not find it funny in the least. Its simply an accurate statement by 7th heaven and in reality, extremely sad for those boys and parents who have had to see this type of deception and poor moral character unfold before them. I had a son on this coaches team a while back and we left because of traits like this that we had to deal with but my other son was smart enough to stay far away and never be tempted to play for someone like this just to win some games and collect some trophies.

We made the right decision, my kids are happier than they ever have been, and we love and look up to our coach as he's been a true role model and father figure to his players. Lesson learned, it's not always about being on the most winning team, there are MANY other factors to consider that parents should take into consideration for the best interest of their children.

You have no idea what goes on behind closed doors, so it would be best to leave your moral superiority complex at home.
The true disappointment was how people on this forum took the information gleaned from what they could see from the outside and formed opinions that often had no basis in fact.
In my position as commissioner, I obviously know the parties involved and can say that most of what you have read and heard is garbage. If you and/or your son didn't like KS as a coach you did the right thing by leaving; however, most 10-12 year old boys really don't care about (or even notice) anything regarding personal lives unless they're clued in by the parents.
I'm very glad that your son is enjoying his new team, as that is what sports at this age should be about. And with that, I'm done with this topic.

    ? To do

    Post  oiseau66 on Tue Mar 29, 2011 9:47 am

@ Happyfeet...you said that you are the comissioner. Advice. My son just asked for a release from his D-2 '98 team. He is '97 birth year, played on '98 team. He is a goalkeeper that should be playing D-1. He will be free, when NTSSA signs the release this week, to have a look around. If the Academy program is going to happen. Where do I start? Do I take him to the big 4 to practices the next couple of months? I am not sure what to do because if they split the boys into birth year, then I have to take him to '97 teams?

I had some communication with US Club yesterday and the announcement should be out in the near future. The Pre-Academy league will probably mirror the USSF DA, so it will be based on calendar year; therefore, your son would be in the 97s. As for contacting the 4 DA clubs, that is a personal choice. Should you wish to go in that direction, you might try contacting the DOCs for those clubs, as I'm sure they already have their teams (at least the core) in their minds. Of course, new talent is always appreciated. Good luck.

Here are the USSF U17/U118 Texas Division academy standings. It will offer some perspective for all you Solar 98 and KS fans:

The Solar team in last place is the remnants of the mighty Solar 94 team. Seven or eight years ago they were the greatest thing since sliced bread. All the players were destined for greatness. Well done KS.

    Hey Needle D...,
If you look at the 15/16 age group, you'd have to say KS is the greatest thing since sliced bread. tongue I don't have a BB with the club but I just happen to be looking at their site yesterday. The 98 boys are a hardworking talented group. Good luck to them going forward.

Needle also forgot to add that the bottom 5 teams in this 9 team U18 division are all within one point of each other. If you're going to slam someone, you need to give the entire picture. Sounds like you have a personal issue with him. Why don't you take it up with him personally versus slamming him anonymously on a forum?

Yes the bottom 5 is close, but that locale is a few steps removed from their penthouse of yesteryear.

Regardless of how their predecessor finished, it has very little to do with this group of boys. We are not on this team but there is no need to bash them or wish them the very least. All I can say is let's the competition begins. It's not how you started but how you finished so good luck to all. We'll meet at the end of the rainbow to compare the skittles . cheers

    Okay
Not sure what your beef with pink is but I am not pink. I rarely post. If you read what I wrote u should thank me. This is a compliment to the players rather than the coach. The team is good. My BB has played against them for years and plays with many in ODP. I just don't kid myself and attribute everything to KS. Pink likes to stir the pot from what ican tell and you seem to fall for it.. I just believe that any decent coach could do the same thing with that group of boys. A great coach can take average players and make them do things they normally could not DO. Not sure KS has proved this. Not sure why u are so mad. I would be proud that I just gave a compliment to your kid? You sound scary like you worship him or something. Anyway.... Don't confuse me with the guy with bones in his nose. Also I am a Mom....not Dad of my BB. just trying to get info on these pre academy teams and that is why I am on this stupid website and got involved. Should have never posted!

If you really want to look at a good coach. See him take a group of boys who are NOT the most athletic and biggest boys and develop them and WIN. My vote would go to Ayces.

Pink/Punk, what's your name, coward? Oh, I like to post under a username so nobody knowns....
That's the sign of a weak nut.

Anatural, you shouldn't feel this way with Irish. He was just being protective of his team and beloved coach. I am sure he doesn't mean bad but rather being defensive. Continue to post away and shouldn't have to worry about hurting other people's feeling. If they can't take it, oh well too bad.

If you're going to slam someone, you need to give the entire picture. Sounds like you have a personal issue with him. Why don't you take it up with him personally versus slamming him anonymously on a forum?

I already have taken it up with him.

Yes the bottom 5 is close, but that locale is a few steps removed from their penthouse of yesteryear.

Needle, let's go amigo. Give us your name so we know whom we're dealing with.
Otherwise, you're just another "kitty" that likes to hide in the shadows.
Prove me wrong you punk. Here kitty kitty.....

Either a bunch of you folks on this site have spent too much time at Happy Hour or some of you are just plain crazy. You are scaring me here. I sure hope this isn't what is indicitive of the parents in North Texas soccer or we are in for a very interesting year. I assume, Irish, that your son plays on this Solar 98 team?
