    Andromeda to Announce Recovery Plan

Post  Freeatlast on Tue Apr 05, 2011 6:04 pm

Sources inside the club say that Andromeda has formulated a three-pronged approach to dealing with the financial questions which have been dogging the team this Spring.

According to a director who asked to remain anonymous at this point, "Our first concern is to get the coaches paid. To provide some immediate relief, we are going to bring their salaries up to date with our own Andromeda "Soccer-Dollars". These are going out immediately, and the coaches will be able to use them to buy ANY team merchandise at 10% off." Said well-known coach M. Leite, "This is great news! I had been planning to use most of my salary this year to purchase fine quality Andromeda Spirit Wear anyway, and the 10% discount is just frosting on the cake!"

Second, Andromeda plans to announce the acquisition of another set of fields In either Highland Park or Oak Cliff. "We are not going to let the tough economy slow us down, we're moving ahead with expansion plans. These fields will be the envy of the local club world, wait and see." The club plans a formal announcement of the expansion in early June, so that kids and parents will be able to take the good news into account as they look for a club to commit to for next year. Asked how the club anticipated paying for yet more fields, representatives said the third prong of the new plan will be the answer.

"We've been blessed with an inventive, proactive Board and some great parents. One of our Board members was brainstorming and saw that we needed a club stimulus. Then he realized that when our great nation, the US of A, needed a stimulus, our leaders printed money! It was right in front of us all along! He just happened to be talking to one of our parents who owns a printing company, and now we're just waiting for the right paper to come in. We ran it all by another team parent who is an accountant - he used to work for a big firm named Arthur Andersen I think - and he signed off on the idea. We'll have everything paid off soon."

I don't know of any history with Andromeda and this forum but why do so many delight in Andromeda problems?

I think I'd prefer "Schrute Dollars" over the Andromeda "Soccer Dollars".

Good question. As a first year Andromeda parent, who would have thought?? Plenty of teams, good tenure in the soccer industry. Seemed like a good decision to me at the time.

Had you only known they used Dez Bryant's financial advisor.

That press release last May announcing a $4 million cash infusion smells like ATF on a day where there is slight north breeze.

I'm not sure if the beating Andromeda is taking on here is justified, but it's not surprising given the circumstances of their fall from grace. Here is the perception - you can judge for yourself:

    1. Andromeda club management announces an impending $4 million capital infusion coming which will allow the club to not only pay their debts but build out fields, hire more coaches, and generally be great.
    2. Prior to receiving any money, Andromeda club management goes on a shopping spree for experienced coaches. Their first stops are a rival clubs Dallas Texans and Solar, where they woo away a couple of big fish by promising them who knows what.
    3. Said coaches take some of their teams with them, including some top classic 1 teams. They also pull players away from teams that don't go with them. This is all legal but it P-O'd a bunch of people.
    4. Now word comes along that the $4 million has not arrived, and not only is the club in imminent danger of losing their fields, they are not paying coaches either (one assumes this includes some of these coaches they so recently wooed from other clubs).

Given that club management decided to begin this massive expansion prior to receiving the money and likely made promises to parents and coaches that couldn't be kept without the money, it is somewhat hard to feel sorry for the club. I do feel sorry for the coaches, parents, and players that have been or will be affected, and I imagine others feel the same.

I also imagine those at Solar and Texans who were affected by the luring away of coaches on what now could only be described as false pretenses, are probably now even more P-O'd and are piling on some. Can't really blame them either.

Good analogy. They all had one thing in common. Piss-poor management (in fact I see Tom Hicks in there 3 times). I'm wondering if Tom Hicks is a silent owner in Andromeda

Becuase Andro made statements about getting lots of money that never turned out. They have taken a lot of money from parents and not paid the coaches for a long time. It looks like lies upon lies to keep stringing along everyone involved. At some point, just come clean and let adults make adult decisions. Otherwise people on this site will continue to say BS and even make a few jokes at the expense of the Ando leadership. Can't take the heat? Stay out of the kitchen.

it's just a soccer club and soccer teams. Next season all of those kids will be playing somewhere else. The only real harm is having to buy new uniforms. Well and carrying the scarlett letter around on your car. Well played on the jokes

As an Andro parent, amen. If you can't make fun of this situation, you need to lighten up.

Might not think that way if I were a coach, however.

Is grass really greener on the other side Question

How come after all these years we do not know how much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood Question

If there is a 'Pot of Gold' at the end of the Rainbow how is it that no one can ever find the End of the Rainbow Question Even when standing on a hill looking down at it Question Doesn't it end somewhere Question

How come by the time you find greener pastures, you can't climb the fence Question

Sure the grass looks greener on the other side of the fence but won't the water bills be higher Question

You use these proverbs to say that the things other people have or their situations always better than your own, even when they are not really so.

One has to ask, did the parents, coaches and players think that moving to Andromeda was going to be the promise land of futbol confused

Sometimes, we try too hard to get to the greener grass.

    Go99,

Your post stated best, pictures are worth a million words.

It's like the picture if your top cow doing the $......ING then a great we are one happy family.

But if your on the bottom stuck, and getting $.....ed by your club or coach. Then you have to try looking for greener pasture.

Unfortunately, no one told these Andromeda parents to bring a jar of vasoline in the process. We always leave it to faith and God. All coaches know this, but they to become suckers to the system. It's the American dream.
