Soccer27-you make it seem like DTS03 don't have skills? Did you watch the championship game? DTS03 was giving out free skills sessions during the game.

Hats off to Liverpool 03 (Barnes) great team, these boys can play.

The truth is Sao Paulo is a very good, skilled team. What DTS has is speed and athleticism in enough quantity at this age as to render them dangerous, but that is all. To say that they were "giving out free skills sessions" is absolutely absurd. Time will run out on speed as the others catch up. They are still so very young. DTS also play a very "physical" game, as expected from any south team. On the balance, SP was a far more skilled team and far more enjoyable to watch.

DTS also got lucky with a lines ref that was seen mingling with their team ahead of the game and made several very questionable calls against Liverpool on almost every single attempt at breakaway, prompting questioning at one point by the center ref, after which point the calls stopped.

To say DTS got lucky is funny. They played Liverpool the day before & won a close game 3-2 & then in the finals with a losing 3-0. Every breakaway Liverpool had was stopped by a very fast DTS defender who shut it down. Liverpool had no answer & rarely any shots on goal. As far as physical, I saw the game, Liverpool was more physical & it didn't pay off. Hats off to both teams, they are 8 years & played a good game.

You're right. My bad. I imagined the offsides calls. You're kidding right? There was a fast DTS defender and he did shut many things down, but the calls were there, and in such a large quantity as to make the boys completely gun shy of running near the last man.

I didn't say DTS didn't deserve the win. My issue is with the ridiculous and completely arrogant comment that this particular DTS team had any special skill to "teach," the opinion which I still hold. Speed and agility will only get you so far.

You’re going to tell me DTS had speed and athleticism with no skill and got lucky to win the game??? C’mon Son you know you’re wrong for that… to me Liverpool was faster and much more physical than DTS. What hurt Liverpool was DTS defense handing out free skill sessions and you know that deep down inside… say what you want but you know what happened. Again LP is a great team and I enjoyed watching them play.

Am I not using small enough words? DTS deserved the win. I believe you are making my point. It was not skill that allowed your defender to run down a striker, it was speed and agility. If you continue to confuse those two things, your child will suffer come U10. Even a defender needs skill. At this age what separates most teams is speed and size differential, which is what DTS had over Liverpool. I will take the skill over the size/speed any day, because in those terms kids will reach parity at some point. What will set them apart is skill. It's kinda like the old saying, "I may be fat but you're ugly, and I can lose weight." See what I am saying?

The comment that DTS was crazy skilled is an asinine one. That is the bottom line, nothing else. They played hard and deserved the win, even with prior stated reference to questionable reffing.

Just for kicks and giggles, does someone want to answer the question as to why that lines ref was hanging out with your team prior to the game? You know, just for fun ...

The ref's only comments to the parents was "How is everyone today" nothing more, nothing less. Maybe it was a liking of the soccermoms.
As for the offsides calls, I believe it was the sideline ref standing next to LP's team that kept putting up the flag. Maybe she was an ex girlfriend of the LP coach & had a grudge against him. haha

Really…what game did you watch? That same defender that has no skills dribbled around LP all game long from one end of the field to the other. It not about W&L at this age but give respect when respect is due. That’s it carry-on!

Are you serious? Of course I was referring to the female ref, first half, standing next to the LP coach. Why would I be complaining about the ref calling on your attacking half calling offsides on us? Embarassed Said ref became mute second half --actually first half, right after being questioned by the center for the persistent calls. I guess no one else saw that.

Alright, enough. I do not begrudge your team's win, no matter how it may sound. Bad calls are subjective and happen at every age and every level. I think DTS would have had that game either way. These boys are only just beginning their quest in this sport. Would just like to see the arrogance kept a bit more in check, at least until U15, when it matters.
