Texans 10 points against Lubbock, 8 points against Titans, 2 points FC Dallas. Total 20.
Dallas 10 points against Lubbock, 9 points against Texans, 1 point against Titans. Total 20
Titans 10 points Lubbock, 8 points Dallas, 1 point against Texans. Total 19.
true but in a 10 point system I was always led to belive a losing team could only keep the winning side from a 10 point win total if they scored? not if they scored no matter what they get a point? if you look at the ntx rules it can be a bit confusing cause' it would seem by whats printed that a team could possibly get up to 13 points by what is printed? but either way seems like that was the toughest bracket of the tourney! and congrats to FCD for winning it's bracket! Cool

You get 6 points for a win and a point per goal only up to a max of 3 goals and 1 point for a shut out.

    As far as brackets go:
Texans had FC (6TH) Titans (7th) and both those teams had been a match away of falling to the 8th or 9th position, and then they had a team with no hope.

far tougher with either Adromeda and Barcelona together or even Solar and Texans South together.

Texans had by far the easist bracket and they also got the wildcard for Semis. Maybe they were just over confident or less motivated because of the draw because they are definitly a good team.

I don't get the point of your bracket strength comments. The best team on that list is DT (most talent from top to bottom - so they lost big deal, they haven't been practicing much and they had a couple bad days, it happens). I would say they are followed by AR & SR that can beat each other depending on who plays better (hopefully us tomorrow!) that day. Then it's Barcelona (although they match up well against AR and seem to get up for that game). Who cares about bracket strength, you get the most points you advance.

And what is meant by Texans also got the wild card?

Well lets just start by saying that we where at the party.....................and other than the bb having to sit it out, it was fun and given what we had we gave it a worthy run.

Game against SR was quite good. IMO we controlled the ball and had possesion far more than they did but a trio of our balls just missed the net. They also had a couple other close misses and happened to toe one in for the go ahead goal in the last 5. All in all it was a great game to watch and we had to play well to beat them. They have some big boys and a deeper bench and it cost us yesterday and that's how our party ended.

But come on now Speedy surely that wasn't a dig given the circumstances. Or maybe then you can perhaps tell us how well your team did or were you just there for the punch?

Went to the U12 Final yesterday. Exciting match of Solar Red v Barcelona. It was another windy NTX morning, with the gusts moving left to right across the field. Solar Red had the wind at their back the first half, and took advantage with a barrage of shots from distance early. I believe 8 players fired at the target befere the whistle at the break.

Barcelona was the first to score off a counter attack. There was a pop up top which set-up a 1v1 scenario with a defender. The Keeper came out, then the attacker pushed the ball to the outside and finished into an empty net. The Barca parents are a lively bunch. Plenty of noise makers and coin-filled Gatorade bottles.

After the break, Solar Red had some help off a set piece corner. A ball was sent in from the right side, the Barca defenders tangled with one another and the ball whipped into the goal.

Soon after, Solar Red put the game away after a good combo play that ended with a strike from the right flank. The last 5 minutes were really exciting as Barca attacked relentlessly at Solar's defensive stand. There were a couple of real good opporunities for Barca from direct kicks just off the right hand corner of the 18. Chips shots that sailed the target.

It was an unlikely journey for Barcelona to reach the U12 Finals, but they definately earned their spot and deserved their medals. I believe Solar Red also worked hard and took home the coveted prize. Congrats to Solar Red, our U12 State Champs!

I saw Barca play last weekend. Must say they were very impressive now that they've realized they don't need to use their elbows to win the games.

Hey, Barca is the only independent club in D1; they don't follow the NTX roster rules, they don't charge half of your year salary in fees and they obviously play good soccer... I think those guys will have a really successful recruiting season !!! GO BARCA show us the way !!!

I actually meant that as a compliment to Barca, not an insult. Last year when I saw them play they were doing a lot of fouls that were unnecessary because they were clearly the better team. The elbows just detracted the attention from how good they are. Watching them last week, they have eliminated the unnecessary and just played fantastic soccer...and impressed everyone with their fast footwork and skills. Hats off to the coach for seeing a problem and correcting it! Now everyone just sits back and says, "wow, that's how to play!"

Here is a major difference : Barca coach let the kids play. On the other hand, some of the "big" club coaches have the ultimate plan (because they know all about soccer) and enforce that on the field. Footwork ? Skills ? Who cares, it is all about strategy and tactics (and anyway if you want to learn skills just fork some more money to your skill coach). These type of coaches turn their players into little robots that are supposed to apply their ultimate strategy. Are the kids playing ? Are the kids figuring out by themselves what they need to do on the pitch ? No, they are young kids and they follow the coach direction.
Robots at the service of a club on one side, soccer players at the service of the Beautiful Game on the other.
I don't want to generalize either but that s a trend I have seen...
