Competitive soccer is a business and there must be a need for additional revenue. A club can either raise prices or change the rules to allow more players on a team. I agree 7 players on the bench can be a bad deal for some, but how much will the alternative cost?

there you go. They do it because they can. Will have little effect on the top kids on the team and there is always someone willing to ride along at 17 and 18 at least on the top teams. Besides, it should help with the multi sport athletes

I agree that you will have players (parents) willing to ride the bench as 17 or 18 on the top clubs but wonder if this move would increase the overall revenue of the club or ultimately just deteriorate there lower club teams numbers without increasing the total club numbers / revenue.
To increase club revenue you would need to have players that want to be in club sports but are being told no because all the positions on all the teams are full. I don't see that there is a discrepancy between supply and demand in youth soccer.

It wouldn't surprise me if this rule change didn't go hand in hand with Classic League raising their fees. It's all about money.
I wish just once Classic league would make a decision that would benefit the kids instead of the clubs.

That ain't gonna happen. There's a reason their meetings are closed. I used to be a supporter of CCSAI, but, can't be after their multiple stupid actions this Spring.

Has there been discussion on who pays for the longer benches?
