Moving to Frisco area. Need help selecting club for 8&10 YOB

Post  ridley on Mon May 16, 2011 11:10 am

We are moving to the Frisco area in July. I am not familiar with the area. I have two sons, ages 8 and 10 that play soccer. Any suggestions on a good, FAIR and competitive club for them in the Plano/Frisco areas? Thank you!

FC Dallas Youth has several 02 and 01 teams in the Frisco area that might be worth checking out. Very Happy

Not sure if Liverpool has teams in your area but might be another viable option perhaps. Very Happy

Others may chime in also, Good Luck ridley cheers

The only problem you may run into with the 10 year old is that tryouts for all Select teams are the first couple days of July. To get him on a team it would be best to start attending practices now.

ASG has some good teams in that part of town.

    Good Luck in your search!

I live in that area too and have a son that is 7 and plays in the 04s (liverpool currently), but see a lot of 03 stuff too. I'm assuming your 8 year old is an 03 (August 2002 - July 2003)?

If so the top teams in the metroplex are here in this area. Solar Castro and Solar Kenninton 03 Boys are very good (they played each other in the cup championship this past weekend). Other good teams in this area are Liverpool 03s - the FC Dallas 03s are horrible.

As for Solar - the post you responded to was a super old deal. From the due diligence I did it was old news (2 years ago) - the club seems to be very solid and growing from what I see and no large overhead of fields/complex (or a president that is taking money) hurting their balance sheet.

Solar and Texans are also convenient.

The best suggestion is to talk to the parents of these age groups and learn which are the best coaches for your BBs. 9 out of 10 (made up statistic) will tell you to pick the coach; not the club.

You can try ASG (www.asgfc.com). We have teams with both ages that practice on the westside of Frisco in The Colony at Blue Sky where Liverpool practices. If you would like to come out and guest play this weekend, we still have time for the 10 year old. Please email me at asg99gold@gmail.com and I will get you going in the right direction.

But only if your kid is tall, fast and strong. Skills are optional. Cool

I still haven't figured out why there is a perception that all ASG recruits are tall, fast and strong kids? scratch

Skills optional...maybe that's because their North coaches are some of the best skill coaches in the area. They actual developed players unlike some clubs. tongue

It may be hard for your 10 YO son to land a spot on one of the better teams if he is coming from a recreational team. If this is the case, I would have him work with a skills coach. Your 01 has a month and a half. It may make a difference...
