In case managers haven't sent out updates...keep an eye on www.friscoshootout.com for weather updates. Not that I think we're gonna get to play...but in case we do...schedules are changing already.

Same thing 2 years ago. Modest amount of rain and they bag the whole thing. Keep this in mind when entering this particular May tournament....

Not sure where you were yesterday, but that was not a modest amount of rain where I was. It poured around I35E and 121. Question

The metroplex got about an inch of rain yesterday (plus or minus a quarter inch). Yes most of it came in a short time and no doubt Friday games should have been canceled. However to cancel the whole tournament due to an inch of rain on Friday afternoon is a good example of organizers not trying very hard IMO. Even if the whole thing can't be played I think most teams would rather get a game or two in than not play at all and lose half their entry fee or more.

Contrast that with GSSA who received the same rain as everyone else and possibly more than some. They have managed to play every game of the tournament with just some delays on Friday. Their fields were wet this morning but have played well this afternoon. Great job by GSSA.

I don't think the tournament organizers had any options. They are dependent on the fields they pay for and if the fields are closed and they cannot find 20 other fields overnight their hands are tied. My understanding is Russell Creek closed their fields.

Sucks for those of us teams in the tournament, but, I have to say I'm not complaining about getting the weekend back.

Same here my Daughter's Aces Tournament got cancelled, plus also my sons Frisco ISD middle school district tournament was cancelled too. The problem was not so much the fields, but Refs being reassign new times. That's what I was told. Crying or Very sad

understable but I bet if they had to give back all that money they would have"tried" a bit harder to get those games played? Suspect

I bet all the volunteers that work countless hours to put tournaments together are eagerly waiting for you to volunteer to show them how to do that. Rolling Eyes

This is freaking ridiculous. They gain money without much work done. Half of the entry fee is too much to pay for not playing.
I wish someone start campaign against Plano youth soccer. If noone signs contract with them, they would be more willing to cooperate ...

Here is a real news flash for you. Read the fine print of every rec or competive tournament . You get 1/2 or none of your money back in case of rain. NO ONE gives more than 50% back. Tournaments are alot of work to put on. Make no doubt about it though, played or not, they are cash cows.
