    98 Pre-Academy Teams

Post  crfan on Fri Jun 03, 2011 9:03 pm

I wanted to see what others thought about the 98 pre-academy open practices/tryouts. The Texans definitely had the most boys coming out and I thought it was very well run and organized. FC Dallas and Solar didn't have nearly as many show up and we didn't make it out to Andromeda yet. As far as skill level of the players coming out, Texans were by far the most superior but obviously then the hardest team to make. I spoke with several that were frustrated at the Texans thinking they probably didn't have a shot so they were moving onto other clubs. But this is our first experience with N. Texas soccer and overall I am very impressed with the player talent.

Any word on when the coaches let the players know who made the teams? Its hard to get a word in with the coaches during the practices. Good luck to everyone.

Wow!!!!, Wow!!!!!! and Wow!!!! that talent level for Texans U13 Pre Academy was unbelievable in skill level for that age group. I would have NO IDEA if one can make that team but for Andro it seems to be the best shot for communication with the Coach for immediate consideration.

I heard Soler turnout was extremely weak but nothing on FC Dallas yet... stay tuned.

the Solar team will be stout considering the 98 team is strong and then you add in the 99' players where I think for the 98 Texans its going to be mainly 99' players i don't think the 98 Texans team was that strong? I could be wrong though? I'm also guessing that Andro will have a weak team basically left over kids from other tryouts that parents just want to be on(or buy into) the pre-academy hype? Suspect

    What?

No need for the name calling Punk? Question My boy came from the 99 Gall team and will be on this team so your crystal ball is flawed sweetheart.

Anyway, we are entitled to our opinions and I can tell you that the Solar 98 CL team was made up of around 13-14 1997 birth year players that have moved on to the U-14 Solar Pre Academy team, hence the U-13 Solar Pre Academy will be unproven.

Good Luck to all trying out!

I was just sharing my honest impression of the 98 pre-academy teams we visited, not intended as a scouting report. I don't get your crass comments and use of cap's for something that obviously goes deeper for you than my intention of just wanting to hear what others experiences were. You may be right about the coaches seeking people out but I didn't see them talking to anyone. Time will tell. I think you're reading into others postings a little too seriously and using this as a sounding board for your obvious personal cynical view of this process. And by the way cr doesn't stand for cronaldo so seems that your jedi mind isn't quite as sharp as you believe it to be Mr. Teletubby fan.

Just make sure you know how Hassan plays this game. He will tell you that your son has a spot on the team. Just as he does about 40 other kids. Then once it is time to sign contracts he will put your son on the Classic League team. Too late to go to one of the other clubs teams. Happens every year. However, he will tell you that you can play in a couple Pre-Academy games. It just never materializes

PA hasn't begun, but the nastiness has already started. No team is proven, yet. Relax... Very Happy

CR, thanks for the insight... I hope others will post their experiences from the practices they attend. Grinder, everyone knows that Texans try to corral as much talent as they can and then split them up at the last minute. I'm sure Solar and FCD are doing the same thing. My curiosity is this... are you seeing mostly boys from the CL99's ranks coming out for the PA U13's or are some of the older CL 98's coming out for this. Mine is a Jan 98 birth and is sticking with his club team but I am curious as to how things are shaping up.

    Keep the updates coming!

This is entertaining havoc that PA is causing CL. affraid

We are sticking with CL but we went to check out the pre-academy hype. Surprised that several of the core Solar 98 team players have decided to play "down" with us in the good ole CL. There are only so many spots and only 4 teams offering the pre-academy league and there simply isn't room for everyone. Loyalty comes into play with coaches and players and it just goes to show you that it's still about winning and not as focused on development as they claim it to be. Coaches want to build the best teams and unless you have a son on the team or a hand in the coaches pocket there are no assurances for you.

As far as sharing experiences, Andromeda doesn't seem to be getting the numbers they expected out at practices but should be able to still field enough to make the teams. Solar 97 PA should be fairly competitve, at least within Texas. The 98's and 96's I'm not so sure about. FCD had a decent turnout. Same stuff there. Texans from what I saw had the biggest turnout with the 96's and 98's looking pretty strong. I guess all of the overflow of kids at the Texans will trickle down to filling in their CL spots.

Funny how I saw some of the same kids trying out at multiple clubs to hedge their bets. Guess that's the smart way to play the game although I surprisingly heard from more than one that their coach threatened them not to attend other club practices - insecure coaches I suppose. I think its always a good idea to see what's out there to make sure your player is in the best possible situation for them. I understand for the most part the clubs already made their offers and the teams are mostly set. So most players by now should know if they will be part of the pre-academy or not. Should be a crazy year with the pre-academy and the new CL changes. Stay tuned.

    Grinder,

Obviously, you weren't at the Texans 's tryout. It's totally opposite from what you said when Hassan address to all the parents. You must have an axe with HN or the Texans.

No. No axe to grind. No dog in the hunt. Just a lot of conversations with parents who lived through the experience over the years. And by the way, its not what he says in public, its what he whispers into your ear.

You people crack me up on this site. I thought I'd learn about how the soccer process works in this area and get feedback on teams and coaches but it's turned into so much more...drama, lies, deceit, stealing, cheating, money, greed, monopolies, sudden changes, evil empires, embezzelment, coaches sleeping with mom's, everyone stabbing each other in the back, parents doing whatever it takes to get their kid on a pre-academy team, my oh my. And the season hasn't even started. Should be the Lifetime movie of the week. Unbelievable stuff.

Unless you see with your own eyes and hear with your own ears, I don't believe it. A lot of people are hating the Texans and jealous of HN success so I will take your comment with a grain of salt. Although we haven't made the PA or D1 team yet but he hasn't whisper anything to ou vears yet.

My point exactly. Like I said. I don't have a dog in this hunt. Good luck to you. I hope you have a wonderful experience and everything works out for you and your BB. The thing about experience is try as one may you cannot truly give it to someone else.

Cool, Thx. My BB loves the sport and impressed with the Texans and their coaches. Regardless of how some of the coaches are/were, we will try to keep it simple and focus on his wants and needs.
