Some great 3v3 soccer played on Saturday. Nothing better then small sided games to teach the youngsters at honing control and passing skills, reinforcing pressure defense, moving without the ball, and creating opportunities in small spaces - whether it be individually or as a team. Great final match in the 03 division between Odyssey and a FC Dallas team. As a parent and spectator it was a great match regardless the outcome and it shows that there is not a lot of disparity in this age group and the best of soccer is yet to come in North Texas as these kids continue to grow and refine there skills. The 04 division was equally as competitive showcasing impressive team play and individual skill. The point-----what a great way to spend a Saturday over the summer months.......

Re: 3v3 Live and Well - The Colony
I agree. Great fun.
That is until a girls final game ended early due to a 10 goal differential.
Where:
the 2 coaches insisted on standing side-by-side at midfield and chew each other out. Tournament official had to stand between them to let the game continue. All 3 lined up shoulder to shoulder at midfield. Classy.
the parents confronted each other after the game. Men literally chest-bumping, threatening each other, offering to take it to the parking lot. Then mom's jumping in and cussing to protect their manly men.
A really sweet example or all that's really great about a kids game.
Wish I would have had a video camera.
Pftht on those moronic parents and childish coaches who contributed.

Re: 3v3 Live and Well - The Colony
There was a male parent from an young boys team that was yelling at his son for a good 10 minutes after a game. I am sure the parent was unaware of all the spectators from the sidelines.... Felt sorry for the young lad who was crying...parent told boy to run to a pole
for not listening.
Overall the teams looked good. FCD dallas 03 girls did good and great group of parents, Boys 03 team all looked good, great passing and clearly were running some plays
for not listening.

In re.: There was a male parent from an young boys team that was yelling at his son for a good 10 minutes after a game.
Was this the same Dad/coach who parked his fanny at the corners in a green chair with a sun shade and camera and yelled continuously at the kids? Including mild profanity? It might be one of the parents of a team coached by a nice young 96B, who seemed to have a nice way with the younger players. I'm obviously being pretty specific here. Can anyone explain this doof's behavior? I'm hopeful he's getting treatment.

The best thing I saw this weekend was one of the players on the opposing team, after a call that was being disputed loudly by his father, hold his hands up and say multiple times "Dad, relax, its ok". Was probably the most impressive thing I've seen an 8 yr old do on a soccer field. Sometimes the mature ones are the guys playing.

Solar Red 6
Galacticos 2
Long day for all the boys. I drove 2 home and we barely got to 121 before they were both passed out asleep.

Did the 03 final end in a Golden Goal?

Re: 3v3 Live and Well - The Colony
Yes it was a golden goal. I did see the kid "kindly tell his dad to sshhhhsh" and loved it. Listen to your kids sometimes and when they tell you it us difficult to play when you are talking to them, they mean it. I relearn and educate myself on that once every few months. We would not do it if we walked into their classroom, but we think we can convince or change them in a game. Not at all possible. We have fun now and I let my kid give me a hard time when I play so I know what it feels like to try my best, and have my bb tell me to "run faster", "focus", "pressure" while I am trying to concentrate. Funny, but all parents should turn the tables and think twice about the difference between motivating, encouraging, and inspiring versus deflating the pride and effort are kids are giving to make all of us parents proud. All about the small victories of self development and learning to, and allowing the kids to love this game. Win, lose, or draw. Rain or shine. I one get excited about once every 2-3 months now. Progress, and yes a my bb has told me to zip it as well and it was a nice welcomed wake up call.
