What is the Answer for American Soccer?

    Post  Bagman00 on Wed Jun 22, 2011 10:04 am

As I read more and more articles on the state of soccer in America it all seems to be negative on the direction that we are going compared to the top countries around the world. So the question I have is who will change it for America? I am not talking so much about the tactical drills and training that our young ones should be doing, but rather the strategic change in mindset that needs to take place. Should it be a grass roots effort by the state associations or does US Soccer own the process change? I come to this board and read a lot of really good ideas by many individuals but how do we as a soccer society get the ball rolling? It is easy for all of us from mostly an anonymous forum , to snipe away at the problems that American soccer has but how will the actual change for the better happen. This is just food for thought, I would be interested in others opinions.

Here's a scary thought for you: who says the rest of the world won't change to the American pay for play system? Where do our top coaches in this sport and others come from? Yep, we import them...so those guys go home, talk about the easy life and big money in the U.S. for coaching kids. Influx of coaches here, guess who suddenly needs to pay more to keep their own best coaches? So they start a minimal pay for play system.

I'm watching it happen in another sport that the world dominates and America doesn't.
