    What replaces Solar 98B Red?

Post  Freeatlast on Thu Jun 23, 2011 9:40 pm

Anyone know what Solar is planning to do to "replace" its 98 Boys Red? Do they have a 98 team to move into that D1 slot?

I thought Allan Adams was gonna take over Solar Red. Is this not happening?

What is the whole Classic League 98 going to look like? With pre-academy taking many players how will the competition stack up?

Can not confirm nor deny but heard about D1:

Solar 98 (mostly mix of TFC and Solar players)
Tigres (lost key players to new PA)
Solar Red 98 (?) (lost many players to PA)
Andromeda/FC Dallas (Gentile) (retained many Andro players)
Dallas Texans (mostly new players, lost players to PA)
FC Dallas Premier (Arias?) (many new players, a few to PA or to different teams/league)
    Real Madrid (lost very few)
    TFC Royal (mostly new players)
    Tejanos (?)
    Pumas (?)

PA teams - prediction from strongest to weakest team

FC Dallas - hearing this team will dominate by far
    Solar
    Dallas Texans
    Andromeda FC

Curious as to what you base your opinion on? I was at 3 of the 4 and from at least what I saw during the time I observed was very very different than your opinion in regards to the PA teams.

I suppose the boys who actually made the team could have been different than the group I saw on a particular night. Please do share how you came up with your predictions. It will surely be fun to watch these new teams and how they develop throughout the year and how they match up to other teams around the country.

Not giving an opinion, just heard.
But you've been there so what do you see if you care to share.

If Solar lost the players I heard they lost, if Texans added the players I heard they added, and if FC Dallas went with mostly the old Andro players combined with some new ones from other clubs then I would have to say I predict:

Texans 1st, FC Dallas 2nd, Solar 3rd, and then Andro SC as they continue to rebuild.

I think some of you are speaking of the 97 PA teams, while others are speaking of the 98 PA teams. Big differences.

The old Solar 98s that have dominated CL for the past three years are all 97 PA. IMO, they will continue to be on top with FCD 97PA team giving them a run for their money, Texans 97 PA and Andro 97 PA round out the group a step behind.

The 98 PA teams are a different bunch. The Texans will dominate probably by quite a bit, followed by Solar (Red) 98 PA, then FCD 98 PA, and then Andro.

I will add to the conversation.

Gentile fcd will be the premier team and is made up of mostly andro players with a few of the old premier players added on.

Aris will have the other FCD D1 team and definitely has his work cut out. Maybe going for coach of the year honors here.

Solar 98 has quite a few who already have solar uniforms didn't see so many from the old TFC team but could be traveling or something. This team is big and fast.

FCD pre academy has the andro blessing and almost no FCD kids as hayden is apparently not a fan of the development work going on inside of FCD. Still think FCD has the best coach but Texans have the most talent in the 98 pre academy.

Yes, prediction was referring to 97PA and believed so assuming that team was going to have the U 14 boys that went from Hayden to Molina last year and ended up #1 in D1.

I would have to agree with you but I think Solar and FCD 98 teams will be fairly evenly matched. I liked what I saw at Andro and the coach I met was impressive but I think it will take them a while to reestablish themselves and get the players they are hoping to attract. The Texans had some real talented little guys and think they will lead the pack. I hope the boys in this age bracket just enjoy the game and have a year that they learn, develop, and bond with new friends. Can't wait to see them all out on the fields.

I know we are all talking about how well our local teams will do in PA...But does anyone have any idea how the Houston, San Antonio and Austin teams will stack up?

    Just curious. Question

well i was told to look at it this way.......those other citys come up north for tournaments with "loaded" teams and go home without a championship everytime so how well do you think their "loaded" squads will do against our "loaded" squads? Suspect i'm gonna go out on a limb and say not very well Shocked

Well if you are correct then this isn't saying much about Coach Hayden's faith in his own club. I don't know much about many of the coaches at this club but I did hear that Hayden is one of their best. Hopefully he can do something about the lack of development with his new 98 pre-academy team this year. Actions speak louder than words. Lets see his results at the end of the year. Will be fun to watch.

Problem with FCD appears to be the coaches network. If a kid receives "the blessing," he's in and will get the blessed playing time all season, doesn't matter if another kid has stepped it up and can beat the starter. If you are going to FC, ask for that guaranteed playing time because everyone else on the team has it!

If this is how they operate as a club then that is not a club to be affiliated with. A good coach lets the best player start regardless of politics or race or receiving some kind of silly "blessing." I would think that would also cause a team to have no cohesiveness or bonding if they know certain players will play no matter how poorly they are performing. I've also never heard of any club ever guaranteeing playing time. Where I come from the best players play and the others are striving to get to those starting spots. It keeps everyone on their toes. I've heard lots of stuff about this club, but how disappointing if this is truly how FCD functions. I don't believe that is how it was intended to be as an MLS representative.

Back to the topic, Are you saying that Solar Red is not going to field a team in D1 ? They aren't going to bring up Solar White from Arlington?

If that is the case, what happens, does Kicks go back up to D1 since they were 9th place last season? Are Kicks still together? If not, does Reagan's TFC team, most of the good players are on TFC Royal now, do they go back up?

Happy Feet, where are you, what is up? scratch
