Update from Rick @ SDL regarding the fall SDL schedule (ATF)

Post  txsoccerdad on Thu Jul 07, 2011 10:48 pm

Just received this update from Rick at SDL cheers

To all previous SDL coaches and managers:

We are happy to announce that the registration for the 2011 SDL Fall season has already started out strong with an abundance of new teams. Unfortunately, because we were at the maximum per field capacity last season we had to turn away 25+ teams who didn't get their teams enrolled by the registration deadlines. So if you are planning to return, we strongly suggest that you get your team applications in as soon as possible, because space will be limited this season.

We want to clarify the field situation, and yes; we will be playing at both The Blue Sky facility in The Colony and at the former Andromeda Training Facility in Plano.

The Registration procedure is the same as last season. http://www.dynamicyouthsports.com/cm_register.php

To start the registration process, all teams will need to apply as a new team at https://www.securedvirtualnet.com/ras/

Teams associated with clubs that have arranged to use an e-code may get that code from their club administrator.

Your 2011 Spring SDL roster information will be intact and can be revised at the US Club Soccer (USCS) website, http://www.usclubsoccer.org/ using your existing login. If the team's name is changing and/or coach, please drop us an email and we'll update the information and send your new login and password.

The "Calendar" has been updated on our website or you can use this direct link http://www.dynamicyouthsports.com/calendar.php

We know you have a choice and we appreciate all those who have supported the SDL. The excellent quality of the league has been largely possible because of the positive soccer environment that is exhibited and expected by the coaches, parents and referees.

Please don't hesitate to email us if you have any questions at sdl.dysp@gmail.com

    Thanks again,

    Jason and Rick

P.S. We are willing to expand to a third facility if we can find a good match. If you have direct connections with a nice soccer facility, preferably a private complex, that you think would be willing to host some SDL games, please pass along their contact information to us.

I heard there is a new league coming in, and it is coming in. Will SDL cut their pricing in half to compete? The new league is a joint venture with associations around the Plano area. I have four teams x $900 = $3600 for SDL, and new one I think is around 4 x $400 = $1600. What to do? SDL is way to high.

I've been saying that for awhile now, and you don't have to wait for a new league. There are existing leagues today that are much cheaper.

It's so hard to get the top teams to move as a group to a new league (resistant to change). Too much group think, and besides what do they care about the cost. They're not paying the fees. They want to go where the competition is. I've broken down the cost before, and the savings are real.

In SDL a U10 team with 14 players pays $195 per player for one year of soccer (fall and spring).

In EAL a U10 team with 14 players pays $107 per player for one year of soccer (fall and spring). If you want to include the NTSSA registration fee it can rise to $157 per player, but in my opinion, most of these top U10 teams are playing NTSSA sanctioned tournaments and would have to pay that fee to get an eligible roster for the tournament anyway so it's a moot point. At $88 per player savings you could easily pay for 2 tournaments or a winter/summer indoor or futsal season. This doesn't even take into account that other leagues offer more value for the money with more refs, more games, longer games...

Obviously I'm passionate about it, but not many coaches seem to be.
