Interesting, North Fort Worth Alliance Soccer Association and DT in some sort of partnership. Cant wait for the ?%&* to hit the fan when the coaches start screaming about all the mini-studs and studettes getting cherry picked for academy teams.

Glad you brought that up, we actually started the partnership six months ago and had two academy teams in the spring. Every player but one on the two teams played on a recreational team in addition to the academy team. These included players from KSA, NFWASA, and Bayfa. The recreational and academy coaches worked closely together to make sure schedules worked out. The o3 boys team only practiced two nights a week for academy and recreational together. Both teams were successful. Are there a few bumps we have worked through? Yes but the coaching director with the Texans has worked very closely with us and is even helping train the recreational coaches.

The partnership we have is no different that the parnership KSA has with Odyssey or Hurst has with Hurst United.

Having 12 years of rec admin I truly wish you success in a partnership that will bring benifits to the rec association and not be merely a recruiting ploy for club. Hands on coaching experience with quality coaches is what is needed at the rec level. I have found most G and F clinics near useless.

I Agree with your comments on G clinics. I attended one to coach my youngest a while back and was not impressed. IMHO, there should be more focus on touch and receiving the ball at early stages of development, even at the rec level, but that was not even mentioned in the clinic I attended.

We entered into the partnership a little guarded but it has actually been a blessing so far.

As for the "G" clinic I agree. I actually hold my NSCAA level 6. I have learned alot more as a coach going through the NSCAA classes as I ever did in my "E".

Why are "for profit" organizations allowed to use public school facilities for practices? These facilities are funded by the tax payer. Are the Texans paying for the use of these fields? Are these fields open to ANY select club? I would like to hear the opinion of the Keller ISD board.

Texans are a non-profit. If you were looking for them amongst the non-profits and couldn't find them, you probably weren't looking under the correct name ... which is "Club Soccer"

My understanding that the "Academies" were not covered by the 501C status. I know of another local soccer club where the "SELECT" teams were non profit but the the academy teams were "for profit". Perhaps I need to do more homework. Besides, as much money as HN is pulling in, how could "non-profit" possibly be the case?

    Here's the Texans latest 990.

I'm not sure why anyone would want to treat academy teams differently than select teams.

Not on the board or even a resident but under the KISD written policy I think a non-profit,i.e. select club, would be able to use them but a for profit organization such as an academy program should not be able to.

IMHO, I think anyone trying to provide a postive activity to today's youth is incredible. I also hope that the relationship between the local rec program and club team is not one sided. Good Luck.
