I noticed there's (15) teams in this bracket; does anyone know if they have room for (1) more team...ETX Premier (formerly known as FC Galaxy)is interested...

Please PM me if you can confirm.

The tournament directors email address is - Alice Ger

I would email her to see if they have room.

Schedules are out and we got the shaft. We asked to play in Gold Division and we are definitely ranked higher than a couple of teams in Gold but tournament director obviously ignored our requests. I guess being out of Amarillo has its disadvantages... no respect. Sorry... I'm just venting. Hope our manager doesn't consider this tournament anymore.

ALSC_7 = ETX Premier got shafted too...The coach sent the tournament director an email last week asking to be in gold division, but like you guys the request went ignored...The two ETX teams (Shock & ET Futbol) that are in the gold division; ETX Premier man-handled both this summer. If they were going to do it like this; they should've made it one big division with qtrfinals, semi, & championships.

I do know the coach sent another email last night; let's see how that works out.

Our team manager also sent tournament director email and left voice message. Not sure it will do any good but couldn't hurt.

It makes you wonder if they looked at the team's GotSoccer rankings at all when they put the divisons together!

This is the email we received from the tournament director after inquiring about how/why we got seeded:

"We seed purely based on league standings. We believe league standings to be the most consistent way of determining the strength of a team because the teams play the same opponents and we understand the strength of each league.

Mathew Ralph is doing our scheduling. I have forwarded him your email, but I honestly do not think there is anything we can do at this point given that the seeding was based on tournament policy which was followed in this case"...

    DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE WHATSOEVER...

Obviously a canned response since they don't even follow their own policy.

"we understand the strength of each league"... NOT

Not sure what league Tyler FC plays out of... I did find where they had previously played in the "Tyler Open" league. They are ranked 61 in North Texas.

East Texas Futbol played in Arlington last year and finished in 9th place. They are ranked 50th in North Texas.

We played in D3 Classic and finished 3rd. We are ranked 27th in North Texas.

    Go figure.

Always have to figure in a little wiggle room so one bracket in every tournament can be homered up for a host team. Shocked

If they are going off what they state on this email, they still are not getting it right. If you are going off league standings why are those 2 teams in the Gold, makes no sense they should flop the 4 teams and be done with it. Tyler and EST will not even have a chance in the Gold bracket.

I would first like to start off and say congrats to Amarillo Lightning for a huge tournament win.

I was out watching my niece play at Craig Ranch and stopped by and caught a couple of 97B games and let's just say that we are in for a big surprise. Some teams that you would think added great talent and should have improved did not, I was really suprised when watching the semis, Tigres Gold doesn't look like the same team looks like they added some good talent but just did not look good playing together. I think lightning handled them very well, I was picking Tigres to be top of D1, maybe they just need a little more time together, but with the season starting this weekend Im not sure about them. Good luck Tigres I'm sure you all will be fine great coach..

Solar Gold looked a little sloppy at times but I believe they will do well in D2 probably middle of the pack.

What's up with Hurst? I so picked them to make the finals and they let me down!!!
I still believe they will make top 2 in D3

I also heard Irving Elite won the 96 group... WOW!!! Great job, this team might be the team to
    beat.

Post  ASG '97B on Mon Aug 15, 2011 6:39 pm

What a great tournament for the '97B age division. Plenty of Div I, Div II, and Div III talent represented there. I didn't weigh in on the predictions because I was still getting the down low on the depth of the talent lost due to Academy league for some of the teams. Observations are as follows:

1.) Congratulations to the Amarillo Lightning '97B. I have been a big fan of your team for several years getting to know you'll through the Arlington Soccer Association. You put on one hell of a show this weekend! I have to admit I thought you would struggle against the Tigres, but to my suprise you beat them in every facet of the game. Wasn't even close! Score should have been 5 or 6-0. You dominated every single team you played and made it look easy. I also happened to notice that you added some major talent to an already technically, tactically sound team. You will be the team to beat in this age group for the year 2011-2012. GUARANTEE!

2.) Tigres: Great team with tremendous athletes. Problem I see is that you aren't the superior athelets on the field you were last year. Other teams players have hit puberty and now the "deep" ball you had such success with, simply isn't getting it done. You have a good coach, but during the game with Lightning you were out coached the whole game. Technically and tactically you were dominated, and the Lightning coach won the "chess" game with no problems. I believe you will have success, but don't think you'll even be in the top of Div I?

3.) Hurst: Wow, you continue to go downhill year after year. Lack of technique, and training has finally caught up to you. Going to be an interesting upcoming year. Predict you will finish no better than middle of the pack Div III.

4.) FWFC: I feel sorry for these young men. Great team with talent and appear to have tremendous heart. I have never heard such negativity from a coach in my 20+ years of being in and around the game. Sarcastic comments throughout and constant be-littlement. I even heard several of the boys after the game walking towards the awards saying they can't f**king stand him and are considering quiting the game. If I were a parent on this team, and this coach would have been utilizing the coaching methodolgy I witness with my own child, I would have been arrested for physically assaulting him! Hate to see this environment for these young men.

5.) Solar '98: Great young team. Thought you are well coached and believe you will do outstanding this next year. You lost some talent due to the Academy League, but should still be strong. Solar has a great program and I thought you'll handled yourself wonderfully against the older teams. Congrats!

In conclusion, I enjoyed seeing what the '97B age group had to offer. We are in for some real suprises, and I fear many disappointments in this age group. Good luck to all and I look forward to watching you'll grow.

our u9B team played in this tournament. we ended up having to play up in u10 (which was not that big of a deal). the problem was they failed to inform us that we would be playing on 110X55 fields with 8 year olds. we found out when we got to our first game. what BS by the tournament organizers. since we only brought 12 (supposed to be 9v9) because of vacations for some of the boys, we had no chance.

Our boys actually played awesome but were exhausted the last half of our third game. the tournament director told us just to have fun. How do you have fun in this type of situation.

the coach has decided he will never play this tourney again.
