That is really interesting - love the part that a kid can be 'involuntarily' not placed on the State Cup roster....oh well...season is over....no tournament for you, sorry.

Great stuff there. Only 9 players from original roster needed. Can play on more than one team. One team in your club loses move all the studs to the other and kick the bench players to the curb. Glad to see they are working on development and not kissing the butts of big clubs so they can win championships.

Wonder what club didn't advance that had a board member?

So a team (FCD,Solar,Texans,Adro)with 22 rostered players can win state cup and pull in their academy players minus 9?

and/or pull in a player not even in the same club? All the whilst kick a BB that has been with the team (and under contract) to the curb like a garbage can with no options until July 1?

I think it does have to be the same club and registered in the same state association.

Got to love it!

In other areas, clubs use the "A team, B team, C team" concept where the best 15 players earn a spot on the A team, next 15 on the B team, etc. In many cases, kids who will move up and down throughout the season based on their performance. There are also kids who will be given the opportunity to play up a year for certain games (e.g. A team player for U13 plays for U14 B team). These clubs train players in a system and the training is focused on player development rather than team building. These clubs card players for the club rather than a specific team to allow for these sorts of moves throughout the playing year.

I like this concept. It could be good for some and bad for others.

That would be fine except in a system like that you are not replacing all but nine going ino a specific tournament. Clubs want to promote and relegate players during the course of a year fine. Dropping up to half your roster when making it to nationals, going from a team that is eliminated to one still in it has nothing to do with development or moving players up as a reward for playing well. It is a way to determine the strongest club not team.

I agree, no issue with dropping or promoting throughout the year due to fitness but I can already see bringing in the national players just for regionals or national matches.
