    Qualifying observations after day one

Post  slampg on Sat Aug 06, 2011 3:42 pm

A few observations after day one of qualifying:

Top teams are taking care of business
Brackets E, F and H are gonna be can't miss games tomorrow
TFC Angell will need a 3 (or more) - 0 win tomorrow against LP Callaghan to win their bracket and avoid the upset. Predictions anyone?
Brackets J - M are all still wide open.

It looks like day two is packed with interesting match-ups and is going to be a blast.

    Good luck all!!

Anyone know why Bachman Lake dropped out of the tournament? They didn't look that bad in their first game.

I Spoke to 1 of the Parents Myself.

After Schedules were Posted, during the week many Games were changed, due to the Heat...

My Guess is they either didnt check the e-mail that was sent letting the teams Know Schedules Were Changed, because one of the kids's Parent had A Schedule that they were suppose to play @ 2:00pm or 2:30..

While We Spoke to him Asking them how there 1st Game Went, he Received A phone Call from Coach letting them know, they lost for Foul because there was A change of Schedule..

Both are good teams, but because of goal differential, I don't think TFC Angell can win the bracket and will have to qualify in round 2. 2-1 Liverpool Callaghan wins.

    From the classic rules:
ANY TEAM WHO FORFEITS A GAME WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE COMPETITION and INELIGIBLE FOR CLASSIC LEAGUE QUALIFICATION FOR A MINIMUM OF TWO (2) YEARS.

    Good games today.

    - While some top teams cruised and won by "a few" others barely made it by 1. Solar Red is the first team to make Classic.
    - Pleasant independent surprises (Barcelona, Aztecs, Anoranzas, FC Bachman Lake, etc). Unfortunate ending for FC Bachman Lake...appeared they were contending for 2nd in that bracket. Now American Eagles actually has a chance to make classic next week thanks to their disqualification.
    - Agree on the brackets above. Sporting and Liverpool Callaghan secure 1st places tomorrow in their brackets with a draw and scoring a goal respectively. This would force FWFC and TFC to another QT week.
    - Bracket M is as tough as everyone predicted.

    Good luck to all tomorrow.

    Ansel:

LP Callaghan took care of business. Congratulations on a great weekend. Callaghan coach had his boys well prepared and it showed this weekend. Great game coaching. The boys played hard with passion and determination and their effort was admirable.

I bow down to LP Callaghan and bid the boys, team and coach my best wishes in D1!

Uphill battle for Angell next weekend. Angell finished 3rd in their group, which has to be one of the biggest shockers this weekend and probably recent qualifying history.

You mean there will finally be a Liverpool team in Classic D-1?

Liverpool has had other teams in D1 at U11, the challenge is to have them there at U12. This year they will have two team in D1 as Liverpool Keegan also won their bracket.

Frankly this weekend was NOT a reflection of the quality of Tfc. They played hard and will be a force to contend with.your boys played with heart and you should be proud of them.
