    US - Mexico game

The first thing Klinsmann should do is to force ESPN to get commentators that have some clue of soccer.

The game was a little different when the subs went in. Although not that skillful , the read and run he made was welldone, the assist was pure determination. The one touch pass to him was pretty good also. Shea also started the play in the back end that resulted in the break on goal where the forward was tackeled.Showed definant poise for a 21 year old. Score one for the BSF. Cool

Hopefully, last night's game will be the low point for the USMNT. You're right, Plantit, and that's the problem. We played lazy soccer with no shape and relied on the long ball to get results.

I thought Brek played well and ultimately was the difference maker. However, unless we magically produce some type of tactic, he too will become part of the problem if we rely on his size and speed to get results.

Good luck, Jurgie. You're going to need all you can get...

I guess I have a bad fixation, but in terms of subbing I think the key was to get rid of Bradley.
First of all he costs the goal; but that's fine. Second half we simply don't see him (litteraly, I doubt he touched the ball in 25 minutes; normal though since he can't move without the ball), he then get subs.
One minute later for the first time ever (I mean ever since I watch team USA with him as central midfield) we see a series of relaxed one touch passes IN THE MIDDLE and one minute after we have a goal ! From then on we have speed, penetration and good flowing soccer.
The dude simply is terrible and has no business being in the national team, especially in the midfield...

Also On espn (via FIOS) I had to start watching the game on a spanish speaking channel because ESPN was still showing some little league baseball (like 12 years kids !!!). I think the transmission picked up around 15 minutes into the first half. Did you have that problem too ??

The commentators were much more entertaining on the Spanish channel than in English. The (loud) background crowd noise seemed to add to the overall effect. Much better presentation and doesn't lure you to sleep like the announcers of an FCD game.

I think ESPN Classic showed the first 15 minutes and then switched to ESPN 2. I guess I should have watched the Spanish channel.

In Germany he is called Klinsi. Jurgie is just wrong. Maybe because my middle name is Jürgen as well.

Were they speaking Spanish the whole time? Could've sworn I heard some German...I could've been hearing things, though.

The entire USA had that problem. The little league game ran long. ESPN gets good enough numbers for those games leading into the World Series.

Has nothing to do with your cable provider.

I turned it on looking for the game and found the baseball. But, the crawl at the bottom said to go to ESPNClassic or some other ESPN channel. I found it there until it switched back to where it was supposed to be about 15 minutes later.

I thought Mex did a good job of having multiple defenders put pressure on whoever had the ball.

I agree. He should start Rogers as well. Mexico had trouble with the size and speed.

Do you mean Mexico's 2nd and 3rd team subs had trouble with Rogers' size and speed? Let's put things in perspective.

I'm excited about the direction the USA soccer program might be headed in and I really like the way our new coach is talking. Especially when he makes reference to the youth program, touches on the ball, and developing more players like Mexico's Chicharito and Dos Santos.

He sounds like he gets it.

The real test will be next year during world cup qualification.

With that said, I like the young talent the USA displayed late in the game.

Speaking of Dos Santos, what happened to him last night? In the Gold Cup he was running circles around people and last night you never even noticed when he came in the game. I was excited to watch him again but was very disappointed in his performance. Wish he would have gotten the ball more. Maybe there is a reason he does not get in the game for Tottenham in the EPL.

Goes to show you have to get support even if you have mad skills.
