Anyone need a 98 Goal Keeper?

Post  mandown on Thu Aug 11, 2011 1:43 pm

We moved here from the Chicago area last week unexpectedly, and we are looking for a team to play on. It looks like he needs to be on one of the Pre-Academy teams. Is anyone looking for a keeper in that age group? Who are the clubs in Pre-Academy? Who do I call for each club? Any help would be appreciated. His birthdate is 9-23-98.

Based on the birthday your son is a 99, so a U13 (god I hope I am right).

Not sure what you mean by Pre-academy teams, in north texas, academy is all before the age of 11, after than kids go into Select soccer, that is if you want to pay the big soccer clubs between $1800 - $3000 a year for your son to play soccer.

There is also recreation soccer, that you can find at you local soccer league. You did not mention what part of DFW metroplex you are in, there are lots of options for your son.

You are a 98 for the pre-academy teams. Those teams are Solar, Andromeada, Texans, FC Dalals. I believe that is it. You will need to search their sites for contact info. If you go to a team in Classic League you are considered a '99 based on the birthdate however he could play up with a '98 team.

It might be diffficult to find a Pre-Academy team at this point as these teams have been rostered for about 6 weeks or more. Wish you the best in your search.

Roster deadline for Pre-Academy is August 15th (although players can be added after that).

There are four clubs that have a 98 Pre-Academy team: Solar, Texans, FC Dallas, and Andromeda.

Most of those did want 2 keepers. Some already have their two, some don't. Each has a website with contact info.

Classic League rosters are due tomorrow. Your son is a 99 for CL, but can play up.

You better hurry!! Best of Luck!!

What he means is the new DA pre academy not the pre-select academy. MD unless your familiar with the NTX soccer landscape I would recommend you dip a toe in and test the waters before deciding where you need to be. Two or three years ago my son's team had a player that was, according to dad, a starter on one of the top clubs in Chicago. He barely got any playing time here. We were U13 or U14 Classic League D3. Welcome and Good Luck! Smile

If he was already set to play for Chicago Fire's Pre-Academy team - he will likely fit in fine with any of the four.

Thank you, I did not know that. Since I am still in the dark, what exactly is Pre-Academy for U13 thru U15. They go strictly by calendar year I am assuming and what else.
Why would I consider my kid for Pre-Academy rather than select?

You will know when it is time. Right now enjoy your 01 qualifying tourney and your first year of select.

Things may change by then anyway.
