Any news about DT White that tooks the Bandit's seed?

Did they pick up any new kids? Will they be competitive this year, or will this be a long season for that team in D1?

A third of the team stayed from last season. Picked up another half of a DT PPL team and a few from other D2 teams. Going to be a tough season for them. Prediction of 8th.High hopes for the kids though.

Why did they get the bye?

Something to do with the Bandits. DT White was the next team in line from the club.

What two teams would you expect them to finish in front of? I don't see even one on the list...

I'm sure they are great boys, but they will finish at bottom. Huge jump from where they were last year to D-1.

They may be on the 2 year plan to remain in D1. What are the chances the top Texans team moves into pre academy after this year? That would create another bye allowing this team to stay in D1 even if they finish in the bottom 2.

Doubt the parents on board now would sign up for a second year of what's to come. Yes, they will keep the bye, but I suspect many parents will say "bye" as well. Telling people you play D-1 shouldn't be that important.

If they did it the first year and next year pre academy begins for this age group I would presume they would justify another swim through D1. Somehow like most things it will be rationalized to be a very positive experience with a heavy focus on coaching, development and competition.

Overheard @ Soccer Corner - One Mom was talking about her BB that is on this team and apprently there is a group of boys on this squad who are attending the HN School of Higher Education for 1/2 of the day and then spending the later half practicing soccer....serious? Fact or Urban Legend.....Anyone?

There are boys from many DT teams doing that. Sure is a good way to improve, and in a hurry IMO. If soccer is your kids' thing, and all other sports are out, it's where they should be, no?

My BB is part of the residency program with the Texans, first day of school is today. They actually started training three weeks ago every day for 3 hrs along with their weekly scheduled practices. I was very hesitant at first but he loves the training so far and the school and classroom setting is very nice as well. We shall see.....not for everyone.
School from 8-1: Public school in Coppell District
Bus to training at Ross Stewart or Inwood Indoor facility
Train 130-330
Break
Train 4-530

That would be great to hear from parents like you that are trying this out to see how if does for your son. My son is too young to start this yet, but we have talked about it for in a few years. While I agree it is not for everyone, if your kid shows signs of being a good player (up to each parent to evaluate) and he is for it, I say why not. I looked into the school and clearly the kids will not be missing much if anything in the way of schooling.
Let us know how it goes.
On a side note, I heard a few parents say this was crazy. However, I also hear from gymnastics parents that have their little girls training 5 hours a day and going to home school for three hours a day so they can train at the age of 7. Why not for soccer?

My son is also a part of this program and loves it. In my opinion he gets more out of this than he does his practice twice a week.

I compared my BB's schedule at his McKinney middle school to his current schedule within the residency program the difference is Choir, Art, PE and and a longer lunch. This thing will grow and I believe you will see FCDallas and perhaps others pilot a program in the very near future as well.
This is not a Texans based school or anything like that, the school has kids that complete the regular school schedule of 8-3, they have competitive hockey kids who train daily, same with gymnasts and even a few golf and tennis kids from what I have heard. Education was the biggest issue with the parents and the overall group seemed to feel really good about the opportunity, all of this prior to Day 1 of course.

The school itself sounds fine.
It is the soccer part that sounds "crazy" to me. Some days of the week they will practice three times. The other days twice. My BB did some intensive camps this summer where he trained that amount - that was for one week. At the end of that week he was physically exhausted. This is for this week, and next week, and the week after that, and so on. It does not stop. There is no break.
Iknow they had fun the last three weeks and everything was rosy. Now lets throw school on top of this day after day.
Certainly not for everyone.

It's just like anything else if your child is tired then you give them a much deserved break. One day, one week whatever works.

yes, but isn't that the point, that it is not for everyone? What better way to find out your son's true commitment to something then to immerse him completely in it, and see what rises to the surface?
It is a challenge, a test, like most other parts of life. This will reveal much about kids, and their parents. These kids and parents have got guts.
Let this thing play out for a year, and see where the kids involved are at that point.

I think it is great, but it is not for everyone. Seems the biggest hurdle would be COST, and the second traveling time. I think those two issues would disqualify most people.

Maybe the Dallas Texans Residency Program should have a thread of it's own?
What the Dallas Texans are doing is great! Do any other clubs around the DFW area have a program like this?
Few basic questions
1. What’s the cost for the whole year and payment plans?
2. Does the student have to commit to a Dallas Texans club?
3. How does the schooling work?
4. Are you accepted into the program base on skills or is it first come first serve?

Few basic questions
1. What’s the cost for the whole year and payment plans? 4K and they have several
2. Does the student have to commit to a Dallas Texans club? No, a few boys are not with Texans
3. How does the schooling work? Quest Middle school is a charter school in Lewisville & Coppell. Classes start at 830 and they are released at 1300. They have block scheduling but do not participate in electives only core classes
4. Are you accepted into the program base on skills or is it first come first serve? First come first serve I believe... My son did not have to tryout if that is what you are asking.
