Not disputing that Ody shouldn't be in the Gold bracket, but using GotSoccer rankings isn't really the best way to justify it as they aren't very accurate when comparing teams from different areas. For instance STX teams play few events which are tracked in GotSoccer so they tend to be very low ranked unless they play Premier League (they get zero credit from GotSoccer for their own local leagues). This being said, I agree PYSA appears to be giving out-of-towners the benefit of the doubt in seeding since 10 of 16 in Gold are not from NTX, whereas Silver has the majority from NTX including a Classic D1 team.

oh well, you still have to play the games. Just disappointing. You just want to see your boys play against the best teams available. Really wishing it would of turned out different

Agree with the gotsoccer comments but unfortunately there is nothing else. What else could they use? I know that last year at the Presidents Cup region III tournament there were teams from the middle Region III states showing up wearing State Champion t-shirts. That still did not get any of them through to the semis as is was NC, STX, FL, and NTX . Common sense says there are not multipple teams from some of these states better than CL D1 teams. Last year PLD 96 group was pretty thin as far as teams in attendance and the NTX teams carried it. Next year they had better hope the out of towners show again because I think the NTX teams that got snubbed won't be back.

Same thing happened to CC West a couple of years ago when they got promoted to D1. They put in to play gold and were sent to silver. Ody needs a good season in D1 before they start complaining. Besides, the team that beat Ody in last years silver final is also in the silver again this year so Ody needs to take care of business and win the tournament.

There is no info out there that can justify some of the selections for gold above ODY, They don't care about winning silver, they care about facing the best competition avaible to improve them for CL and PLW league play. Last years PLD run was a waste of time for them as they blew out every team until the final.

Maybe to most but not me if it means 5 blow outs to get there. I would rather be three and done against top teams then trophy hunting against weaker ones . Schedules show Ody moved to gold.

I remember a few years back, this same 96 Ody team came in second place in the Plano League and were mistakenly given the first place trophies. When the error was discovered and called out, Ody refused to return the trophies so that they could be given to their rightful owners. Sad.

Sad what old age does to memories. First of all it was their first year in select so that is over 5 years ago. Second Ody was in Plano B in the fall and went undefeated, and under the rules then, was promoted to Plano A for the spring. They then went undefeated in Plano A coming in first in the standings. The manager was given the trophies and they were given to the boys who were well aware of where they were in the standings. No team had won both in one year before. Plano then decided that since ODY was not in A division all year that they would not only not be awarded first place but would not be invited to the Challenge games either. The parents paid PYSA to replace the trophies.

Too tough, The D1 teams are either mostly new playersor new to D1 and with out of state teams you just never know. Its a total crap shoot trying to guess, at least in the gold division.
