What's your thoughts on changing teams mid season - like NOW? If a player plans on changing at the end of a season, knows who he is going to, do you stay with current team to honor commitment -- or go because there is no loyalty and they will talk about you like dogs when you leave, no matter if its now or end of season?? Thoughts??? BB is not advancing skill wise and hasn't learned anything new on current team. Just wondering how much the commitment factor weighs in other peoples eyes.

if this academy and you're not seeing results, I say haul ass and find a better fit, or playing on multliple teams and see which one is a better fit over time. Screw what what other people think. No mater what you decide people will talk.

What matters is how important is the lesson of honoring a commitment and following thru and finishing what you start to you in the raising of bb. Who cares what others say about your choice. Is it that bad that it is unbearable or ruining his passion for the game? There is only one month left. I say stick it out. There will be tough stretches down the road. Don't teach him to quit and walk away from them.

I'm with you on commitment, that's one thing I will not budge on, we do not quit anything. There's a little more here than I can put out on a public board, but I'm kinda like, does it really matter?? It's complicated sort of.

Unless your kid is a star, or the star, there is no commitment to your child by coach or club, and even then it is tenuous.

Teaching kids to stick with it is one thing. Banging your head against the wall is another.

No one in the competitive soccer world is looking out for your kid but you. The further you go the more this rings true.

There are exceptions here and there.

I understand you want to teach your kids about commitment. Everything is a choice.

has a coach never not honored their word or commitment to a parent or player? Hmmm.

Has a club never pulled the rug out from underneath a kid or his parents at the last minute?

Do you really think big clubs and their coaches are committed to anything besides coach and club, and of course, MONEY?

Yeah, see been there done that with my U19 BB. And younger BB would be switching to another team in the same club. Just a change in coaches. So we will run into old coaches again, and frequently. That's why in the end, I'm like, does it really matter? They'll be pi**y either way.

If there are other issues then it is tough to say . My best advice would be to remember no matter what level you are at it is still a GAME. I have had parents trust me to have their kids at my house, in my vehicle and then lie about plans to leave a team. I find it quite bizarre. Be up front and stick to your own principles. Don't get sucked into the drama, they are kids and it is only a game.

However, some people's profile pics make it really difficult to read posts in an office environment with butts shaking on screen drawing attention to what you are viewing.

There's no commitment in academy. We're probably the rare ones that is actually committed, but I wouldn't have gotten so committed had my son not been learning and advancing. There's no contract to tie you to a team, so I say get started right away with a team that will advance skills, etc. and drop the old team. Guest play at tournaments, practice with the new team, and go forth and score goals.

I am with most that you are committed to the team through the season. I am sure the coach is expecting and counting on him to play. certainly if the team has only a minimal bench.

is the BB still having fun? if so, no reason to teach him to run from something he has committed to. If it is just lack of improving, get him to other practices with other academies.

the least amount of bad blood that is created is best for the BB now and in the future.

just my 2 cents. if it was my BB and he was still having fun but stagnate in learning, he would stay until the end of the season. SDL only has 3 games left anyways.

hold on smurfie. If you BB is good then no need to worry. Everybody can use a great player every season. He will always be able to find a spot. If he isn't that good then he needs to find a group to get in close with the parents so they can band together as a group. So to summerize, HE can play soccer or YOU can play politics
This is why soccer is sometimes so bad in North Texas. Apparently it is parents like yourself whose bb is no good at soccer and needs daddy to play politics so bb can have a spot on the team. If your bb is not a good player then put him in football if soccer is not his sport but leave the politics out. Parents with this sort of attitude have probably never played any competive soccer or played at a high level and they are ruining the game.

Also you are making me have a bad experience when reading the forum by your picture display. Why don't you show some decency and change that picture, so Christian people can read the forum without having to look at soft porn.
That's a picture of my future ex-wife. I'm getting my bb a scholarship plus transportation on a pre-academy team because of her!

BTW, politics is a part of soccer all around the world, including the good old United States of American at all levels. From FIFA to the smallest recreational association in NTX, politics will be there.

You may want to look into your local YMCA if you don't want to be a part of this. I think church teams play through their leagues and you shouldn't find any politics or pictures of my future ex-wife there.

Go99, please find a new, more offensive avatar to use. I would prefer people like this not visit the board. Soft porn? Really? OB1 is not a good name for you, try Roger Chillingworth or Rose Sayer or even just "Old Spinster". Plus, to qualify as "porn" it must be "utterly without redeeming social value," and surely no one could argue that a booty shaker doesn't have some redeeming social value.
