    SDL 02's for October 15

Post  debit on Fri Oct 14, 2011 10:53 am

7 matches this week in Level 1 for SDL.

    1. DT United v. FCD Premier Snell: FCD 4-0
Should be a fairly comfortable win for FCD.

    2. DT South v. Liverpool Rush (Fagen): DTS 3-1
Should be somewhat competitive as LP Rush is a strong team, but DTS just has too much firepower. Bonus prediction: DTS parents will make post-match claims that they should have won by more, but just couldn't finish.

    3. FCD Predator v. Odyssey: Odyssey 3-0
Should be a fairly comfortable win for Odyssey, but Predator does possess the ball well.

    4. FCD Premier Goncalves v. Solar Red Crushers: Draw
Game of the week. Should be very competitive and I wimped out with my prediction, but honestly just not sure. Both are top 5 teams and can beat each other on any given day.

    5. FCD Toros v. Liverpool Gerrard (Soutar): Liverpool 4-0
A bit ambitious regarding the score, but it's time for LP Gerrard to show their firepower against a team struggling for results.

    6. Solar Blue v. Sporting United: Solar 3-1
Should be a fairly comfortable win as long as their arms don't get tired from all the throw-ins

    7. Solar Dynamo v. TFC Larry: Solar 3-1
A good matchup between a top team and quickly rising TFC, but in the end, Solar Dynamo is just a bit better.

A good matchup between a top team and quickly rising TFC, but in the end, Solar Dynamo is just a bit better.

    1. FCD Snell 3-0 (Snell is coming off a great game against DTS and will have a good game.

    2. DTS 3-1. DTS will put in some more goals this week but Fagen will get one as they have some fast forwards.

    3. Odyssey 3-0. Odyssey is making a move to get into top ten teams and playing well as of late.

    4. FCD Goncalves over Crusher 2-1. Agree this is the game of the week but see Goncalves as a little better in this one.

    5. LP Gerrard 3-0 in a comfortable game to stay unbeated on top of the SDL D1 league.

    6. Solar Blue 3-0; will come back to win comfortably after a tough loss to Odyssey last week.

    7. Dynamo and TFC Larry battle to a tie. Dynamo coming off tie to DT Scott and need to get back to winning games but Larry puts up a good test.

    Good luck 02s.

    1. DT United v. FCD Premier Snell: FCD 2-0
I'm calling for a surprise good game from DT United.

    2. DT South v. Liverpool Rush (Fagen): DTS 2-1.
This could be a good game depending who shows up for Liverpool.

    3. FCD Predator v. Odyssey: Odyssey 2-0
Haven't seen these teams play this season.

    4. FCD Premier Goncalves v. Solar Red Crushers: Goncalves 3-1
A little bias but I picked it any way.

    5. FCD Toros v. Liverpool Gerrard (Soutar): Liverpool 2-0
Haven't seen Liverpool play any of my tough teams yet.

    6. Solar Blue v. Sporting United: Solar 4-1
This will probably be over in the first half.

    7. Solar Dynamo v. TFC Larry: Solar 2-0
Good match up and Dynamo style will help TFC.

Solar Dynamo beat TFC Larry 1-0. It was a great back and forth game but Solar Dynamo scored a goal in the 2nd half to win the game. TFC Larry is definitely a top 5 team. Either team couldve won this game. Great soccer game!!!!

I heard the DTS vs LP Fagen game wasn't a good game to watch. I was told DTS could've won by alot more than just 6-2. Liverpool Fagen is a kickball team. They will be in trouble if they continue to play this style of soccer. The older the boys get, the faster they get. Therefore the kick and run style of soccer isn't going to work in the near future.

    Congrats to DTS!

They have established themselves as a good team but I think there are 5 teams ahead of them still.

TFC Larry do not "mix n match" like some of the other teams/clubs and the coach is doing a good job developing his players.

    Who is on Fagans team

    Post  TexasSoccer02 on Sun Oct 16, 2011 11:14 pm

When We play Fagans teams I see some players from solar, dts, FC Dallas from other teams . I don't have an issue with it. I am all about my kid playing as much as possible. My question is how do you build a team if every week you are changing it up for the kids. The kids need to work as a team and allowing outside players to come and play then go and move betweent teams seems like a waste .
We have some of that on our team.

What's confusing to me is that you never know what team you are playing each week, parts of different teams show up it seems. Two #14's on the field, etc. My son says, yeah, Dad, I guarded that guy against DTS, or he was on LP too, or Solar. I guess we joined one team, not several. Especially if they are playing in other leagues at the same time they play for different clubs, teams, coaches. I think in the top 7 or 8 teams it's hard to identify who the top 5 are. The matches have been so close and competition fierce. It's been fun watching the games. I don't see anyone blowing away the other team in any of these games. It becomes painfully obvious when you see a game like DTS and LP Fagan who the top teams are. What I think is funny...DTS players are not allowed to kick the ball out of bounds, so I am told. As opposed to LP Fagan. That would have been fun to watch. Sorry I missed it.

I have seen the same with Fagen and a few other teams. I think it is a good thing. The kids should be looking around this year to see where they want to land at select. In my view, the time spent this year is not about developing a good team but seeing where you want to be before select to then start developing a good team. My kid has played all over and I am glad he has had the chance.

If I were a coach I wouldn't want a transient team each week. And if I were a player, I think it would be difficult to play with different kids all the time. Just a thought.

If I were a coach, I would not care as long as the players comes to practices every now and then and games. If the coach is good, it will give him a chance to lure more players to his team. This is from the viewpoint that it does not matter if you win, just if you can find some good players now and will start piecing them together over the end of the Spring and next Summer.

As a player, it allows the player to have to adjust to new players, be confident on your own skills and get exposure to new coaches. All good things. If you win the game it is bonus, but matters very little.

As a parent, I enjoy picking games, ranking teams etc on this forum, but it means absolutely zero in terms of the decisions I make for my kid or his development. I am looking for a coach and core of kids that will help my kid get better. You will never know how your kid will do on another team, differnt coach, different teamates etc, unless you try out some other teams. The list is up to six so far and probably will find more over the spring. Found some good ones so far and will settle in late spring.

Does anyone know the score for Solar Blue vs. Sporting United?

Also, anyone with insight into the DT United vs FCD Premier game? I'm not sure what to think of DT United. Are they sharing players from DT Scott (didn't have a game this week)? My son's team played DT United earlier this fall, and I think they're better than their results show, but I didn't expect them to tie FCD Premier.

We've been with different teams, different coaches, etc. Just found one we like and will stick with it. We are already playing 3-5 days a week so I don't know where we would find the time to be on another team. How do you develop continuity and cohesion on a team if the players are constantly in flux? If, as a coach, you want to teaching laying off the ball, or receiving the ball with your back foot, and half of the players know it, and the other half are transient players who attend practices infrequently, I just don't understand how that works. Regarding the 3-5 times a week playing, I already feel like I am taking away time just being a kid for my son because he is on the soccer field so much. Granted, he loves it and wouldn't want it any other way. And, frankly, there aren't that many coaches in NTX I would trust with my son. I've seen a LOT of duds. And trust me, the coaches are in it to win it, as are the parents in most cases. I don't see the "development" mentality at the games.

I am pretty certain that our boys are not playing with other teams during the season. We have had recent additions over the Summer that have played with other teams in the past.

In regards to kicking the ball out of bounds, our Coach teaches the boys when all possible to pass out from the back or move it up when you have space but he is not against kicking the ball out when all avenues are exhausted. You will see that very seldom is the ball kicked out of bounds.

I know several teams out there like Solar Dynamo, Crushers, and FCD have players that play in different teams. I can see why if you aren't content with the coach, his system, and child's development. Now if you find a coach and a system that works than stay with it. This can explain why teams like DTS have had good succcess. The majority of players have been with this team for years and have been developed by this coach.

Glad you have a good core group of boys. I know a couple of your players and they are good kids. Some skills. Good luck with your season and going select next year. Hopefully most of our teams stay together until then.

Anyone care to update us on the Crushers DTS game?

4-0 DTS over Crushers, should have won by more, but just couldn't finish, again Very Happy
