    SDL 02's for October 29

Post  WRG on Wed Oct 26, 2011 10:44 am

Some really good games to finish the season this Saturday:

    1. Dynamo v. Fagen: Fagen has been slipping as of late and Dynamo doing well. Pick Dynamo 2-0.

    2. Solar Crushers v. DTS: I would normally think this would be a close game but in the EAL league DTS have beaten Crushers 4-0 and 5-0. Call it for DTS 3-0.

    3. Solar Blue v. CFVC: CFVC is a good team but call it for Blue 2-0.

    4. FCD. Premiere v. TFC: TFC has slipped in the standings to 12 but I think they are better than that record. Very physical and aggressive team and they have played a tough schedule. Call this one for TFC 2-1.

    5. LP Gerrard v. DT Scott: LP Gerrard is number 1 in the standings this week and will finish up with a win 2-1. LP Gerrard will finish the season in first place in the Standings. Good JOB LP.

On Sunday in EAL a game between Crushers and Odyssey. Odyssey moved up to #3 in the rankings due to playing a doubleheader last week and winning both games. Call this one for Crushers 2-1.

    Good Luck 02's.

    1. Dynamo v. Fagen: Fagen has been slipping as of late and Dynamo doing well. Dynamo 3-1

    2. Solar Crushers v. DTS: I would normally think this would be a close game but in the EAL league DTS have beaten Crushers 4-0 and 5-0. DTS 3-0

    3. Solar Blue v. CFVC: Depends on which Dynamo players show up Blue 2-0

    4. FCD. Premiere v. TFC: Agree that TFC is better than their record due to their tough schedule, but I don't think this week is their breakthrough against a top 5 team. FCD 3-1

    5. LP Gerrard v. DT Scott: LP Gerrard has to lose sometime and this week is one of their tougher opponents of the season. They struggled to find the net last week against CVFC and their depth will be tested this week. DT Scott 3-1

Missed that game. Predict FCD Goncalves over DT United 3-0. FCD coming off great win and making argument for top spot. Not sure who will be playing for United.

I think FCD Premier Goncalves has made the argument for the second spot. Better than FCD Premier Snell but not better than DTS.

Not quite so fast there Mr/Mrs. Creeper. FCD beat DTS last week, sure you were there, so they can surely make an ARGUMENT for the number one spot.

While I would agree that until FCD or anyone else does it on a more regular basis DTS is still considered the top dog, but it appears the winds may be a changin.....

It certainly appears that they share players or they are extremely inconsistent. I decided to go back and review their SDL season results to decipher what's happening. Not sure accurate conclusions can be drawn without first hand knowledge, but here goes...

    Week 1
DT Scott ties FCD Goncalves 2-2
DT United loses to LP Gerrard 0-2
Seems the top players were consolidated to DT Scott that day...

    Week 2
DT Scott beats FCD Predator 3-0
DT United loses to Solar Crushers 0-7
That's quite a beat-down Crushers put on United, but I kinda expected more from DT Scott based on week 1.

    Week 3
    DT Scott ties Odyssey 1-1
DT United loses to DTS 0-1
Seems the top players were consolidated to DT United that day...

    Week 4
DT Scott was supposed to play FCD Toros, but appears this was postponed to Week 7.
DT United loses to TFC Larry 1-3
Not sure what to make of this.

    Week 5
DT Scott plays Sporting United -- no score reported.
    DT Scott beats CVFC 2-1
DT United ties Solar Dynamo 1-1
Seems the top players were consolidated to DT United that day.

    Week 6
    DT Scott -- BYE
DT United ties FCD Premier Snell 0-0
With DT Scott not scheduled to play, the top players were consolidated to DT United.

    Week 7
DT Scott ties FCD Toros 0-0
DT Scott loses to Solar Blue 0-1
DT United beats LP Rush (Fagen) 2-1
Seems the top players were consolidated to DT United that day.

If they're not sharing players, I don't understand how DT United lost to LP Gerrard and was crushed Wink by Solar Crushers, but bounce back to play DTS very well, tie Solar Dynamo, tie FCD Premier and beat LP Rush.

Maybe DT United is the better team with DT Scott's only signature game the tie with Goncalves in week 1. I thought DT Scott was the better team before the fall SDL season began, but starting to change my mind.

I prefer Sir Creeper. I think for someone who is all about standings no matter who their competition is you shouldn't be even considering FCD Premier Goncalves as someone for top spot because they have lost one to a team that DTS does very well against and a couple of draws. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt and still placing them higher in my rankings than the standings.I think some of the top teams in this age group given the opportunity to play DTS or any other top team when they are not a full strength should win or give them a great fight. It looks like FCD Goncalves took advantage of it but it wasn't a blow out. They barely won.

So WRG I have to say I agree with you that DTS is still the top dog and that will not change until these teams beat them on a regualr basis not just one game by one point.

I don't really disagree with anything you said, and as I've always said, you are what your record says you are. Get tired of people saying, "we lost, but we were really the better team." Having said that, I also think you look at the long term history of a team to get a feel for their overall abiity. Clearly, DTS has shown to be the top team in this age group over the last few years. However, I thing FCD Goncalves, FCD Premiere, Solar Dynamo and maybe Crushers (although DTS handles them pretty well) LP Gerrard ( just my thought on LP, have no connection to that team) may come along and challenge.

My point with regard to FCD Goncalves was they can make an Argument that they are closing in on the top spot. They beat the best team in a close game and if I recall are high in the standings. The overall picture shows a good team.

What I have been told is that the same players who were on the United team that lost 0-2 to Gerrard, were the same players minus the GK and star FWD that beat Liverpool Fagen 2-1.

    Here are my predictions,

    Dynamo Vs Fagen 2-2
Two even teams that have been struggling a little of late. Will be a close one.

    Crushers Vs DTS 0-4
DTS will bounce back after a loss and hammer the next team they play because that's what the best teams do. Unforunatly for Crushers they are in the firing line!

    Solar Blue Vs CFVC 1-3
Blue look weak this year and CFVC are pretty athletic.

    FCD Premier Vs TFC 3-1
FCD will outplay TFC by playing good possession. TFC will grab a goal solely due to speed and aggression. For me possession and technique beats speed and aggression.

LFC Gerrard Vs DT Scott 3-1
After last weeks tie Gerrard will have a point to prove and will finish the season undefeated.

    Good luck to all teams

Yep, missed most of my predictions. With a track record like this, I'm looking into becoming a meteorologist.

Congrats to TFC on a good result against a great team! Also congrats to DT United on their win over FCD Goncalves.

A great fall season for the 02 Boys. Looking forward to tournaments and winter indoor/futsal.

    Some interesting games:

    1. DT Scott/United 2-1 over Goncalves: When DT Scott/United puts its top players on one team for select, they will be very good.

    2. DTS over Crushers 2-1. A much closer game that previous Crushers v DTS matchups. Crushers may be getting feel for them.

    3. FCD Snell tie with TFC. Thought TFC would win this one. Has been a long hard season for TFC.

    4. LP Gerrard 3-0 over DT Scott. LP Gerrard keeps taking care of business and finishes #1 in SDL D1 for the Fall.

    5. Dynamo over Fagen 3-2. Was this a close game? How was it played?

Does anyone know the score of the Odyssey v. Solar Crushers White game from Sunday in EAL? Curious to see how Odyssey, who finished top 3 in SDL (against weaker teams) did against Crushers.

Odyssey won 2-1 over Crushers White in EAL. Was a great game and fun for the parents to watch.

Good to see Odyssey do well finishing top 3 in SDL. I would agree that SOS means something, but the team played very well over the last month and is headed in the right direction.

That is a good win for Odyssey. While the SDL competition was not the strongest, as I have said with LP Gerrard, you are what your record says you are. A top 3 finish is good and a win over a team most think of as a top 5 team in Crushers. Will be a team to watch in the Spring.

The Liverpool vs Solar game on Sat was a game of halves. Solar dominated and controlled everything first half and Liverpool did it in the second half. Exciting game to watch that went to the wire.

Thanks for info. I still think Fagen is a very good team and will be a D1 team in Classic league come next summer. They had a tough SDL schedule but have fast, athletic kids.

Well not bad for DTS facing Crushers 3 times this season and winning all. Not many teams can say that. Not sure if they got a feel more like they got help. Odyssey's top 2 players were guest playing. It made a slight difference. I believe there are the 2 players that prior posts were hinting about. It looks like Odyssey beat Crushers on Sunday. Looks like Odyssey is a god team. Not sure why they would want to leave if they are.

You are right, maybe feel for them was not the right choice of words. Just that the other two games were pretty much blowouts and this one looked closer from the score. Still three solid wins for DTS against them.

Interesting note about the Odyssey players.

Odin starts at central forward and that Thor kid is one hell of a sweeper. That kid from Nazareth in goal can't kick well in sandals though.

That is slightly blasphemous, yet very funny at the same time. Good for a laugh on a slow Monday. Razz

    Too funny.
Bottom line though, who REALLY cares which kid guest plays for which team.
    Is the kid having fun?
That's all that should matter, right.
