IMO there is nothing the coach could have done to make barredor happy. It's clear that the coach made several changes to his team to keep the score down. I'm sorry he feels the way he did it was unsportsmanlike.

As I have said score had nothing to do with it. But when you tell your goalie to go forward and play in the attacking 3rd there is NO excuse for that. Play straight up respectful soccer and we are good. The only time I have seen a keeper go to the other end of the field is when it is the waining moments of a crucial game that they are losing. Not when they are up by 6,7,8 or 9 goals. Like I said before we got beat 10-0 by Sporting. I have no issues with the way that game unfolded. But then again the kid with the goalie jersey and gloves stayed on his end of the field.

For those of you that do not have an issue with a coach pulling his back up goalie up to the attacking 3rd while winning by 6-9 goals please provide a reason why you consider this respectful and considered good sportsmanship or even necessary.

Barredor, you should recognize that leaving the Titans' goal wide open -No Keeper- was an advantage that your team had at the same time... Our team has done that trick too and most of the times we have suffered the consequences :( and ... in those cases the other team has not been offended at all …

You can explain it however you want and defend the classless act all you want. I am surprised that if this is such a great trick when winning by a large margin I have not seen it done by teams in the EPL when a team is up by 3 or 4 goals and they want to keep the score close. Of course at that level the players on the field would see it for what it is, classless, and take care of it themselves and the player in the goalie jersey playing in the attacking end would be carted off.

You are right I will never understand why a coach would do this. I played select soccer and have 2 kids currently playing select soccer. One plays for a Plano team for development, our choice as he had offers and one on a D1 team. Been involved in and witnessed many blowouts both playing and as a parent. I have never seen a winning team do this. If anyone has seen a team winning by more than 5 goals pull their goalie to the attacking 3rd please share. Or please provide a name of a coach that would do the same thing. Because I would not ever take my kids to a team or coach that would do this.

Yes many times keepers take PK's or free kicks. Not the issue. Playing the keeper as an attacking midfielder in a blowout is what I am questioning.

I don't believe in making starters sit. It's not fair to those kids. One of the reasons my DD left rec was it was no fun. She would start off and run up a few quick goals and then spend the rest of the game sitting or playing soccer on the sideline with her brother because they were trying to keep the scores down. The starters want to play too. Just give them something else to accomplish other than scoring goals. They will need it if they plan to get any better. As far as the losing team goes, you take your beating as a learning experience. Look at the kids who give up and quit and those that keep fighting. One will make it further, the other will not. Adversity builds character.

There really is no easy way to make this right for the team on the loosing end. If the coach on the winning team instructs his players to try to get to 15 or 20 consecutive passes, that would generate a sense of mockery also. In the end, I think the kids should learn from every winning or loosing experience.

Look at what LSU did on Saturday -- started taking a knee at the 1 with 5 minutes left in the game, trying to avoid running up the score. What happens? One of the idiot announcers starts criticizing Miles for showing sportsmanship instead of making the score 59-7. Sometimes you just can't win.

Once you get above U14 competitive or rec if the keeper is coming up that far or sitting down in goal most times it is a sure bet someone will end up being carted or red carded off.

I have issues with LSU doing that as well. They should have run the ball up the middle the rest of the game. If you have to punt, punt. if you need to kick a field goal kick one. If you score a touchdown you score a touchdown. I consider what the Titans coach did the same as if LSU were running fake punts and field goals to get more touchdown while winning by 50.

I do not have a kid in this age group, but after following this thread, I would agree that it is pretty low. I find it hard to believe some parents would defend a coach putting his goalie, in a goalie shirt with gloves, (obvious to all on the sidelines he should not running be in the attacking end of the field) up in the offensive end and let him dribble around. It seems the only reason to do that would be to humilate the oponent. If that kid really wanted to play up there, have him wear his normal uniform and put someone else in goal. If it was to have no goalie, then pull the goalie all together ( also a bad idea, but trying to understand some of the excuses given above)

Don't see any reason how this is a good move by that coach and it would only humilate the opposition. Not good.....

This string has left me stratching my head. I'm not really sure why some people are trying to justify this action. I've coached for almost a decade. I've coached on competitive, recreational, and adult levels. Never once during that time have I thought to myself, "This game is getting lopsided. We're up by a handful of goals. I should slow my team down... I better push my goalie up on this cornerkick."

The only time I ever push a goalie up is if I want a goal. I've never done it to avoid scoring goals. I'm not sure how this can be justified in a lopsided win unless the team we're playing against is playing cheap or dirty.

Now, if the other team is playing dirty then all bets are off.

Ultimately though... It's not the coaches job to stop their team from scoring goals. It's up to the other team to stop my players from scoring.

Huh??? So you're saying that if a team keeps scoring goals on your son's team that, instead of your son figuring out how to stop them, you should cry about it and blame the other team's coach?

I am actually agreeing with you. We believe if you dont like us scoring so many goals on you. Get better and learn to stop it. If you are on the field with me and I am better than you. I am going to dominate you the ENTIRE game. I teach this philosophy to my BB..Play hard like the score is 0-0. Dominate your man at all times and never let your foot off his neck while you are on the field.

Please find a 6th grade grammar book to review regarding the proper use of commas, periods, capitalization and other remedial grammar so that the rest of us are no longer burdened with having to sort through your illiteracy to try to determine what you are trying to say. Having to do so is, much like you, annoying. I hope your BB turns out to be a great soccer player because if not, based on all of the "philosophy" you are teaching him, he's going to end up with a shovel or a spatula in his hand. Maybe you and BB should work on reading and writing for a while during the winter break.

Ultimately though... It's not the coaches job to stop their team from scoring goals. It's up to the other team to stop my players from scoring.

That sounds like something my sister would say.

Clearly you are an idiot. Good thing to teach your kid. You sound like one of those losers who was a big "stud" in high school and now you sell aluminum siding and try to run pyramid schemes. Good luck. Idiot.

Lol you sound like an idiot with your stupid a** comment. If you don't like losing or taking a beating. Practice so u can get better point blank end of discussion. Happy holidays everyone. Can't wait for the spring season to start

What big philosophy did you bring to the table?!?! I had to re-read your comment to figure what u were trying to say. You sound a little bitter about people running up the score. I'm not on here to argue with you about this. Worry about your own not mine and what I am teaching him. Get a life idiot. [/quote]

I am sure that you did have a hard time figuring it out--I used punctuation and proper grammar instead of profanity to make my point. You really need to work on your advocacy skills Sensei Krowd. No one will come to join your dojo if you don't become a more proficient wordsmith. Crying or Very sad That would be sad.

We joined his team this past the summer and have nothing but good things to say about him and his coaching methods. As a parent, I am extremely satisfied with him, the team and the Titans organization.

Were you happy when they started cursing at each other and other players and got into a fistfight when they lost to coppell in the afc tournament? A classless team with classless parents and a classless coach. At least they didn't spit on their hands this time when the game was over and shook hands with the other team......

What's your agenda Soccerisgood123, is it to vent your frustration?

    Do you feel better now.

You make me miss B.T. Mason (lol).

I am still here Ray.. I just enjoy seeing you dig holes for yourself.
