I didn't get to see your bbs team play Ax but they faired well. All I can say about the Chicago Magic teams I saw play is impressive. The U14 bunch is very impressive. They are clearly capturing talent that we are losing to American football in the Chicago area because their starting forwards are the best ive seen in the age group anywhere and they guys they are bringing off the bench might qualify in the same class.

    98 group

Note that most of the teams that played in the 98 group were age pure while the Chicago teams brought mostly 97 players who were giants compared to the typical 98 groups.

They were big huge strong physically developed players.

The smaller teams could not keep up when the referees allowed a tougher style of play.

They could only compete when the refs called a "la liga" style game that protected the smaller players.

It was a beautiful tournament on a beautiful complex. First class.

Looks like the Chicago Magic won despite being without several players that participated in the ODP Interregional Tourney for either their region or as members of the US National Team. Saw two boys on the National team roster.

Must be a very impressive bunch, indeed.

Don't think it was the age difference that mattered. We faced a Chicago team in Memphis last spring and they were huge too. About six or seven 96B players over six foot. I asked one of their parents about it. He said it was their Eastern European contingent. They like soccer and hoops but not American football. They don't lose as many big athletes to pointy ball.

We were told that the 2 forwards were part of the national team pool. It wasn't beautiful soccer or great skill that did us in it was overwhelming speed and power. Never even saw him use his left foot. To be fair our defender was never able to cut his right side and force him left. Run around the defender, cut in, cross or shoot, wash, rinse, repeat. National team will need more than man-children to compete at the senior level.

The two on the nat'l team roster should not have been there - at Disney. They were in a tourney in California at the same time???

I saw the Chicago Magic team play a bit one game and watched them warm up. I will concur they were big, strong, athletic, skilled, a very top notch group. Chicago Blast had the same height as the Magic but not the thickness or overall athleticism.

Beautiful complex and awesome weather. Pretty impressive in all boys age divisions that Chicago teams made I believe it was 2/3's to 3/4's of all the finals.

ok then that is a good thing. I would like to assume the National team players play with more skill and not just athleticism

On our way back delayed at Orlando airport. Agreed the Chicago teams clearly dominated the tourney. Interestingly the best skilled big Player we faced was a center mid on the last place team in our bracket. He didn't have support. But individually he was exceptional. Lots of beasts at this tourney. We figured out how to beat them in the second half of our first match, but too late to get a win. Overcame a 3-0 halftime deficit, but lost 4-3 in final minute. Playing keep away allowed us to run the big batteries down and force their conditioning. Good experience. Hope to return next year...

The u13 Chicago Magic team was cheating. Its no way that Ghanian kid was just turning 13. My wife is from west africa also and she just laughed when we told her that he said he was just turning 13. There were two others questionable, one from Mexico,Typical. But there is nothing you can do about it because they can declare whatever age they like when applying for their papers. She said she might be 34 instead of 31. LOL The Magic was that they were cheating. LOL

Followed closely by the excuse of :

"we got beat but they were just more athletic than us and really don't know how to play soccer." So your team was so bad they didn't even have to play well to beat you, they only had to run fast and be strong? Got it....Laughing

Whether you like it or not cheating is very real in soccer on an international level. If FIFA has problems with cheating, then why would it be any different in the US were we have no way of really checking ages. The Ghanian kid's birthday is in August of 1999. That would mean that he could play u13 next year. I dont think they MUST have cheated but they MAY have cheated. But cheating is very real. Why does it seem to be kids born in other countries so many times. LOL. I know for sure of kids that play right here in N.Dallas that are cheating, playing for large clubs and the clubs really dont know. I'll bet money that the Ghanian kid is not just turning 12 a few months ago.

How do you know they are "born in other countries"? By the color of their skin? They could have been born in the US. I have a nephew, who does not play soccer, who is taller than me 5'9 and he is only 12 (and he was born in NTX).
