I’m sure all of you have already heard about Jerry Sandusky and Bernie Fine. Now Bobby Dodd of the AAU has this story out against him, http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/7346773/memphis-police-speak-two-alleged-molestation-victims-former-aau-president-ceo-bobby-dodd. I think it’s good these stories are coming to light.
For me, an alarming part of these stories is the amount of “alone time” these coaches get to have with their victims. A coach should never need to be alone with your child. Either you should be there to supervise or other children should be present. There’s no reason a coach (or any adult) can give to warrant alone time with your BB.
Your BB can afford to miss a practice, game, or tournament. Tournaments and games may be billed as super-important but keep the perspective. There will be another practice. Games can be missed. There will be another tournament to play in.
Geesh… This is scary stuff.
