Where are you going to play in the fall? Is there information about the coach on the AYSES website?

It seems every year this 02 team has a different coach. What happened to the coach who was coaching this team and also had another team at another club (FC Force I believe - 01 boys team)?

Coach Raul S. had a work conflict and could not contuine with the AYSES 02 boys.

We now have Coach Vinnie Davies (95 Boys 98 Boys and 02 Boys). Coach Vinnie is committed and will be around to build this team. This team has a great core of parents and athletes, even with all the coaching changes over the past two years. Coach Vinnie will come in and make a difference! So far they are 1-1 in the Texas Winter Classic.

Repectfully change my post. Thanks for being good sports. Hope you find what you need in players. Your program has endured. That's great. I have no idea what they are talking about from last May. All I remember is the one coach who rode the kids really hard, yelled a lot at them from the sideline, and my experience with him tainted my opinion on your club. You have been welcoming, and I should respect that. Thanks.

Nothing against their team. Coaching has been a revolving door, and the program doesn't seem very solid. I remember not too long ago when the gold team was amazing. Best in class.

Not sure my you are being so negative towards this team Madison but we have come a long way. I am a parent on the team and have been for just about 1 year. I can't think about a better group of parents and athletes to be around. YES we have a long way to go and I do believe the coaching changes have been extremely hard on the boys. We now have coach Vinnie Davis and he is committed to see this young group off to college. He has a great track record as a coach and a sound knowledge of soccer. I truly enjoy the AYSES philosophy and want out boys to become true gentlemen and masters of the ball. We may not win win win now but just wait and see how this team develops. We did compete during the TWC and made a good showing.

    MadisonMyers,
I find your post very puzzling and honestly cannot understand what the motive is behind it unless you have a personal axe to grind. My son has been with the AYSES02B team since the team was initially formed back when they were 5 years old (originally Blackwatch 02B). Our keeper has been with the team the entire journey so we have never had the need to recruit a keeper unless it was possibly for an additional 02B team.

As far as your comment regarding coaching changes, AYSES program, and the AYSES02B team, let me share my experience since I've been along for the ride from the beginning.

Read this first for background on our transition over the last year (Scroll down to the Oct 2010 discussion): http://www.txsoccer.info/t2316-sdl-02b-scores-week-8#25129

During this transitional development journey described in the link above, we had a couple of coaching changes which for any team could have been a very difficult thing to endure. The coaching changes were due to one coach taking over responsibility for building an additional 95B team and the other was due to an unfortunate employment schedule change. With that said, the team endured minimal setbacks during the coaching changes and have stayed the course because the parents and boys are committed to the team, AYSES program, and the club's development philosophy.

If you are not familiar with AYSES as a club, there is a club-wide "development-focused" philosophy and style of soccer that is taught -- possession soccer. From my perspective, the club-wide development philosophy provided the continuity in development during the coaching changes which minimized the impact that normally would have occurred. While it didn't seem to be a plus at the time, in hindsight, as a team we had the opportunity to experience a couple of really great coaches without players going to other clubs/teams individually to get the exposure to different coaches.

From a club perspective, its difficult to articulate until you experience it, but there is a distinct club culture and sense of family at AYSES that I haven't experienced since the old Blackwatch days. It goes beyond the team. If you don't know Sammy Olali, you should take the time to have a discussion with him on development. Granted, AYSES' development program is not a fit for everyone, he will be the first one tell you that, but the investment in time for that discussion would be well spent. We are very fortunate to have Coach Vinnie Davis as the AYSES02B coach that will be taking the team into Select and beyond. We have a great facility to call our home and a very committed group of parents, coach, and club that are on the same page with respect to the long-term development path we are on. We are looking for a couple of like-minded 02B players and parents, so feel free to PM if you have any questions.
Practices are TU & TH 5:30-7:30 at FSP. Coach Vinnie's contact info is 214.334.9925, vdavis9@us.ibm.com

MadisonMyers, The TFC v AYSES game this past weekend was an enjoyable game. Our parents and the coach were very pleased with how the AYSES02B played. Congratulations to TFC on that win and to FCDallas Francisco on their Championship win in the Finals.

I am honestly impressed with the AYSES. The team has overcome a lot and you are still together. You guys played a great game against TFC this past weekend. I have a lot of respect for the AYSES 02 team. I always look forward to when my BB plays the AYSES because I know it is going to be a fun and enjoyable game. The parents and the kids are great. Both sides cheer for each other and show an amazing amount of good sportsmanship. It was a hard loss to you guys last May but, your team deserved the win. I do not think TFC should win all the time. Wink Thanks for a great tournament this weekend. Look forward to seeing you soon. Good Luck to all of you!!!

Back during the first? summer season at the Fairview complex, my son played against the AYSES team along with a Boca team, Manchester team and a at last one more I cannot remember. My wife and I were stopped after the game and asked to come talk to the coach. We were invited to become a part of AYSES and told that my son would get great goalie coaching and that they were looking for a goalie. He also contacted several other members of our team. I understand that coach is not a part of the program anymore? This was all when AYSES had joined with the Longhorns, which I understand did not go well.

My son also went through MLS goalie camps at Craig Ranch maybe two years ago now, and the goalie coach contacted Phil Thomas from AYSES, who had been recruiting for a goalie for the 02 Boys team. May have been a different team that was forming, I have no idea. I did not call. I wasn't sure I wanted my son committed to being a goalie full time.

I know that your program is respected and am very happy that you have found a soccer family. That can be a difficult thing to do. Your fields there in Fairview are beautiful, the grounds keeper is really nice. I understand that Sammy is a great guy. The snow cones are awesome. It has been enjoyable playing against the AYSES teams the last two years. Maybe it was one coach I didn't care for. I know nothing about how the teams are coached these days. I understand that it has been nothing short of a miracle that AYSES 02 Boys team has survived the turmoil.

Didn't mean any disrespect and I apologize that it came out that way. Your club has been very hospitable and the game was fun to watch this weekend.
